Alas, as usual you seem to conveniently forget the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact which was a non-Aggression Treaty between Hitler's Germany and Stalin's USSR.

During this time the UK stood alone - although with help from our Commonwealth brothers - against Nazi Germany and Europe.

Yes, we Stood alone, with a little bit of American financial back up and supplies (we only just cleared our debt lol) and a 15 million strong commonwealth Army including 2.2 million Indians, Not to mention the Poles, French, Dutch, Czechs, Americans etc who joined the RAF and the Norwegians who made up some superb Commando units and the partisans all over Europe and eastern Europe, But yeah We stood alone after that.

I have no beef with Russia or the Russian people. It is a beautiful country with a rich history. They did turn the tide during the war which helped the allies to victory.

However, Stalin cannot be propped up as a good guy or hero. While he may have felt he was on the side of good, if you were on the other side you were dead. He executed upwards of 700 thousand people for differing political beliefs.

He started much as a plain simple mobster by robbing, kidnapping and murdering people to gain power. It was his way or the highway to the cemetery. By any account he was not someone to be revered and celebrated, just a serial killer

Yes, Stalin was not an angel. Most of the world's leaders have their skeletons in their closets. And I, as a believing Orthodox person, have a lot of complaints against him. But at the same time I know that at that moment the Russian state needed just such a leader. Otherwise, thanks to the communists, Russia would not exist now. as a state.
