I provided a link earlier that shows the nineteen states that still allow school officials to smack the crap out of your kids.

The news has been so full of crazy and bizarre lately...

He went to get a sip of water, forgot to put the mask on. The teacher did not tell him to put it back on or send him to the office, she instead pulled him up in front of the classroom in front of all of the students and she then taped the mask across the top of his face...

The mom said the sub added a second layer of tape from his nose to his forehead, and with the tape still on his face, he went to the office to pick up homework he’d forgotten at home and his dad had dropped off.

The boy remembered that up to five students had masks taped on their face, which has been happening since the start of the school year.

The article is short, and I'm pushing the ATS limit of quoted material, so read it for yourself to get the full picture. While I appreciate that the principal notified the parents of these students, he should have also been "proactive" and put a plastic bag over the teachers head and taped it shut so she is sure not to catch any cooties from anyone and escorted her out the front door of the school.

What the hell is wrong with these people. Maybe the masks they insist on wearing are depriving their brain of oxygen.

I'll never understand the US, I grew up thinking that it was supposed to be all about freedom yet the more I hear the more it sounds like victorian England.

Here an adult who taped a mask to a child without consent from a parent could go to jail here. They'd certainly be forced to leave teaching.

A lot of what goes on in US schools would be considered criminal assault here. Like security guards putting zip cuffs on kids. Not a cop, jail time.

my entire life in them.

I know for a fact a teacher got fired for getting in a kids face.

or maybe I just went to schools where people weren't animals and had manors

I have 2 sisters and a brother all younger than me and none of them have ever said anything about it.

I have a step son in school and no one at his school have been punished with physical violence

the kid that responds ONLY to violence is a hurting and most likely neglected or abused child, you think hitting them at school will help that? What happens when the kid who was just hit by a teacher goes and bullies another student because A) hes a kid and cant express himself and acts out or B)He is being abused and wants to do the same to others to get what he wants.

What good does a teacher hitting a kid do?

there are bad kids but they shouldn't be hit they should be helped.

you seem to be pro hitting other peoples kid, I would happily go to jail if someone put hands on my step son. There is zero reason to hit a elementary student, PERIOD.

if your teaching style and conflict resolution are so lacking you need to hit someone that sounds like the adults issue not the kids, and might be time to look for another job or more education.

There are special ed classes and schools to send really troubled kids.

a kid in my 5 grade class tossed a chair out a second story window breaking the window, he didnt get hit he got sent to the 'bad kids class'

Did/do you hit you kids?

Is that still allowed in America?

There is quite a list of countries (among which my own country) that prohibits the hitting of children even if they are your own.

parents can like open hand spank a kids butt but not full on hit them.

there is a big difference between a parent and a teacher as well.

I got spanked a few times in my life and it was more about the shame of being bad than the light tap on the rear

so the answer is yes and no

no offence but it is coming across as you are pro this for later readers.

I only read a few of the last pages TBH.

I will read all of the post, if I'm wrong I apologize.

do you disagree with anything I said in my long post on this page?

Citing a state statute is not defending it.

to answer you questions

and i quote

"New York's prohibition on corporal punishment is only limited to public schools. This means that some private schools may be allowed to use corporal punishment. Because New York does not have a law that allows private schools to use corporal punishment, parents may have to consent to this form of punishment through a waiver when the child enrolls with the school. However, just because a parent signs a waiver does not mean that excessive or severe forms of corporal punishment are always allowed."

I was born in 84, so the year before I was born NY got rid of that kind of punishment and it looks like a lot of other states have as well

you never answered me if you have kids

its okay to be wrong brother, happens to everybody from time to time.

people here are lazy with sources and I sited mine, and facts are facts

most states and parents do not endorse this treatment that's why it is banned in public school where i live and in Nevada

actually you know what, it is good to hit 8 year olds.

you changed my mind.

why stop at 8, what about kindergarnders(5 year olds)

if a grown adult needs to hit a kid there is a problem, but its with the adult.

tell me one good reason a teacher should hit an elementary student?

is this the topic your going to fall on your sword for?
