I have lost contact with my kids in the storm

I just heard from the fam and everyone is fine. Power is out and it is a big mess. The chickens are loose in the woods but that is the worst of it.

Bummer about the chickens. I hope they can gather most of them up. Where a chicken herder when you need one?

In the small town where I grew up as a teenager, the phone company had a small building a block away from our house, I remember one specific time not long after we moved there when the power went out for many hours one evening/night. I didn't know what I was hearing, so I walked around a bit until I eventually found the generator running in a small fenced in area behind that building.

I guess I never really thought about it much after that. I never realized that was the only reason the landlines still worked.

Actually, at that young age, I don't even think I was aware that the landlines did still work during power outages. I don't think I found that out until years later, when I had a place of my own. So that's my excuse for not putting two & two together.

Their house is not very strong to say the least so they were going to sister in laws place. That house is much better and they will be with people who are always ready for anything. I sincerely hope that you will soon be released from any insecurity in this and you hear from them and that all is good. I and many hear know how this feels. Soon enough phones will be up again i am sure m8.

Hope they find the chooks before they lay a pyramid of eggs.
