we should have gone in to wage war not politics.

This is spot on. Politics is for after war is won. This has been the problem ever since Vietnam, politicians trying to dictating how wage war.

Being in a war you aren't allowed to win, was hell from a soldiers perspective.

Agreed but a lot of the politics thar stopped the war succeeding came from Afghanistan's tribal politics.

Bin Laden's tapes prove that US special forces or marines had him pinned down and injured in Tora Bora during the first few weeks of the war heading for the Pakistan border.

They had him in their sites and were tracking their communications but the Afghan Northern Alliance/Armed forces who were there to help US forces turned their weapons on the US soldiers and told them they weren't allowed to go any further.

Even though those Afghan fighters hated the taliban, al-qu'e'da and bin laden the strong tribal ties with the warlords and drug smugglers controlling that area meant they would never enter it or allow foreigners to attack people there.

The West doesn't understand this mindset and tries to force the western ideal of history, borders and democracy via corrupt puppet governments. Every country that has tried it has failed.

The only country that succeeded in taming Afghanistan was the US in the 50s, where miniskirts were the craze with Afghan women and Afghanistan became known as 'Little America' - they destroyed it a few years later though by accidentally flooding farmlands with salt water, causiing mass famine as only opium poppies could grow in the salty soil and led to the collapse of Afghanistan back into radical nomadic groups.

All very good points.

I remember reading Dalton Fury's book and he claimed that he was lisltening to Bin Laden on his radio talking to Al-Qa'ida fighters.

There where also reprots that UK SBS had "Mark 1" on him and coudl actually see him as he fled over to pakistan.

They should have just flattned the country in 2001 then got out sticking some puppet into power.

the ties with Binladen and the American government are enough to make all of this look like a poorly planned game.
Almost as if his existence was needed for agendas to come to fruition. But praise Jesus, we kilt him and buried his body at sea.

I hate being this cynical, but trying to unlearn things and unremember them is harder than you would think.

It would make no sense to kill him as it would make a mockery of their pledge that there would be no revenge.

A Taliban spokesman has told the BBC's Yalda Hakim "there will be no revenge" on the people of Afghanistan.

"We assure the people in Afghanistan, particularly in the city of Kabul, that their properties, their lives are safe - there will be no revenge on anyone," Suhail Shaheen told the BBC.

"We are the servants of the people and of this country."

"Our leadership have instructed our forces to remain at the gate of Kabul - not to enter the city. We are awaiting a peaceful transfer of power."

He also said all Afghans would have participation in the Islamic government - meaning Afghans who are not Taliban would also be included.

Words intended to placate the international community no doubt.

Totally agree-anyone looking at this from the outside could be forgiven for thinking that politicians of any party are actually just front men for a far darker hidden machine which operates in the shadows regardless of who is in power.

Scum floats to the top.
String them all up for all I care.

that right there is a load of horse sh@@. if anyone has been following the news there were reports of them burning people homes, killing civilains, killing womens husbands and then forcing them to marry taliban fighters.

next it will be just like before the invasion, they'll be beating women in the street with canes, looking for people that help the collation forces, and training camps for all manner of terrorist and paki ISI will be all in the middle of it again.

another thing that got me wondering about, since the crack down on fentanyl and now that the taliban is back wonder if there will be a new morphine and heroin surge.

gots to have something to get them dollars back.

I am follwoing this just now on The Gaurdian who are reporting that Taliban fighters have entered Kabul and that there are gonig to be discussions between Afghan government and the Taliban for a "transition of power".

In otherwords.

NATO forces spent 20 years fighting against these thugs only for them to walk back into power about days after they left.

The BBC have reported that:

And there is to been a meeting in Qutar today to speak with taliban representatives.

Almost all western states are now evacuating their nationals.

What a mess.

You can thank Biden for that.

I wonder if there will be a formal surrender (or should i say “peaceful transfer of power”?) today? I hear the Taliban are taking up police duties in Kabul.

Won’t be long at any rate.

Taliban commanders claim they took control of the presidential palace in Kabul shortly after President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan. The group says it expects a total handover of power.

Somebody needs to link a copy of the real Trump "agreements" and highlight the parts that have been "overlooked".

Blaming Trump NOW is just an admission of incompetence 🤣

Biden was committed to the plan laid out by Trump. When the Taliban understood that they pushed.

The Afghan army pretty much said, "Oh you want the country? Here you go."

And now the Taliban control Afghanistan.

If the people of a country won't fight for it. What can we do?

Bin Laden with the son of an insanely wealthy Saudi construction and real estate family, that got to live the adventure of a life time; pretending to be a rebel hero to the people of the middle east, courtesy of the CIA. It isn't a coincidence that the Bin Laden family and the Bush family had many business and financial ties.

Of course at the end of his life, while he was dying of kidney failure, he got to relive his glory days for a bit, while helping his masters the CIA foment a war against Afghanistan and Iraq.
