So, I'll retry this rant, but this time I'll sugarcoat it with an abundance of niceties since my other one was lovingly and compassionately nestled into the Trash Bin because I was less forthcoming with a positive approach than is preferred.

In mine recent post that shall remain unmentioned in both title and date of publish, some fine commenters chose to respond to my Post of Origin and levy the claim that I failed to consider certain things in my monologue.

I carefully pondered their assertion and came to but one single epiphany: the problem with their responses lay in the fact that, as well-intentioned and pure of heart their responses must have been, I specifically did discuss that which they claimed I did not. I must be frank with you, dear reader, but that rubbed me in the wrong direction. It also rekindled in my mind the truth that this issue often pervades throughout ATS threads, so I felt it an appropriate topic for a rant.

Herewith, I gently implore those random and unnamed individuals (and others similar in practice) who participate in such shenanigans to, at the very least, peruse the entirety of a post before issuing a declarative response. More often than not, failing to do so leads to unfortunate misunderstandings and the wasting of the OP's time in having to respond and clear up such obviously innocent miscommunications. In relation, it has a slight potential to reflect more poorly on the person failing to properly amass the totality of the point being shared than the player who has shared said point.

'Tis my heartfelt desire that I witness no more individuals succumb to such a fate, and that we all endeavor to read, in its totality, a post prior to formulating a response. I must believe that, if we all do so as individuals, the culmination of efforts will elevate the quality of this fair site, and further bring us closer to our destination of denying ignorance.

May this post find you well, and I wish you all success in your daily happenings.

So basically, you’re sick of impatient know-it-all’s.

It’s not just a problem on ATS. They are everywhere you look, in day to day life.

Just ignore them. Nothing will change.

OMG
I read your first attempt and have to say, I love and enjoyed this one a lot more.
Well done mods.
They made you really elevate your style...

So should we read all the comments that other people make even if the thread is like 15 pages long?

Usually I read the full Opening Post, then some of the reader's comments, but not all before responding.

Maybe I'll just skip threads longer than 3 pages.

How do you expect me to keep my cognitive dissonance at bay and keep confirming my bias if I have to fully read each post before I respond to it? Pffft! The nerve.

IMO sugar-coating will always be superior to honey dripping.

I read the first sentence at least.

Seriously, I always read the WHOLE thread before I reply. So as not to have foot-in-mouth problems.

No the honorable proprietor of this invitation to spread our cognitive wings, merely wishes we carefully ponder all nuances of the message provided in the OP before calling his wits subpar.

But the title clearly states:

To Read Comments In Their Entirety Before Responding To Posts

Aren't comments the things that readers make?

I applaud your alertness. Alas if you read the title you also will see the post being mentioned.
So thanks to you we can expand the list to:
"Before responding to comment, post or title read it in its entirety"
Well played

I gotta be honest I didn't have time to read the OP's post but by the title it seemed like some whining and control issues?

Oh wait maybe it was mansplaining, authoritarian dictates on how to reply submissive and properly?

Well I was joking I did read this and thank you dear, dear (see even so much nicer) for schooling everyone on proper reply etiquette.

Please start more on respect for others politics, wearing masks and such. Oh of course don't forget common courtesy and table manners, we mustn't forget those!

You could also self flagellate, just a suggestion...

I always read the full OP properly but frankly I don't believe you rescued those nuns by fighting with lions.

Just kidding. I know what you mean. I sometimes wonder at the odd reply here and there that doesn't seem to be related to the OP.

As far as longer threads go, I like to read the whole thing before I respond because I don't want to repeat something that's already been posted nor do I want to ask a question which was already answered on page 6.

Even the original post is a comment, it's just the one that initiates the conversation. Regardless, the spirit of my OP is that, if you are going to respond to a comment--ANY comment--read it in its entirety first.

You're a better person than me. I never make it to the end of page 4 before responding to the OP.

My good sir, I, too, fall victim to the alluring, intoxicating scent of half-reading. This is just a minor suggestion that we all attempt to impose self-limitations on such behavior.

I feel quoting a poet will illustrate my point with perfection:
