I've always thought it was weird fhat we were created in God's image, so he is also petty, warlike, terratorial and vindictive?

Nah, I don't believe a word of it...

If you're following along with the story man became like that after sin entered the world. So pre sin we were like God. Post sin we are not. If you don't believe the story that's fine, but it's congruent.

And this truth is sadly lost on the op

Lolll, one more guy calling me ignorant for simply sharing a different subjective perspective about the Almighty.
You guys are a special bunch for sure.

Who's next?

ETA: If possible, not necessary, reference the books or religion.

I haven't noticed anyone calling "you" ignorant.

What we say about an argument, is another story.

What did you expect when you address one of the most hotly debated and contested issues in human history?

You're OP is about the zillionth thread like this.

I believe what I believe. I quit arguing about it over 20 years ago.

Haven't seen anyone out of line on this thread yet though IMO

They mean the same I suppose.
But both are in my thoughts from time to time

Seek and ye shall find implies you re responsible
Whereas asking implies something else.

Yeah seek and ye shall find.

But remember not wanting something is the same as seeking it.

I never denied perfection exist. The universe is huge and we don't know how old it actually is. So the stuff we are being told about our history might be only a tiny fragment of God's existence. The universe could have been destroyed and made anew a thousand times for all we know. My point is God is a being that is most likely in constant learning mode. Maybe he already knows everything and experienced all there is to be, but maybe the universe is young in the grand schemes of things and we are all just here to experience reality and learn about it, God included. Life is all about progress and changes and yet you guys somehow call me ignorant for simply proposing that the Lord might also be an evolving being leaving room for improvement.

Yeah, I know they're very similar. I wasn't trying to stir the pot. I was just saying being active will get you there better than hoping. I mentioned earlier prayer and meditation has worked surprising well. But you hafta do what you can. That's all.

I don't think you are ignorant, in fact the opposite at least you have an opinion on a subject that has moulded all of us. I may think you are wrong, but certainly not ignorant.

I learn a lot from people with a different t opinion not only from me but from the majority.

For me though your abstract thinking is lost if you only look at one discipline within this particular subject. I like to look at the kool things they have went to great lengths to hide.

I've always loved hide and seek

They made you believe God is perfect...

No person has ever made me do anything I did not want to do in the first place.
Period .
So , when you say "you" add (with the exception of Goth).
That would make the statement true in respect to my beliefs .
And who is "they" ?

What kind meditations you got for increasing focus and providing a good boot up the arse to kickstar you into action. I would sell a time share on my soul to get kicked into action.

Civil doesn't imply being told multiple times that I'm either ignorant, don't have a clue about God or that my perspective is based on repressive feelings or whatever.

At no point did I see anyone really consider my main argument, take time to reflect on it and wonder if it would be possible for God to be learning everyday just like all creation. I know I failed to deliver it in an effective way in the OP but this point it's just disappointing to see the lack of understanding between people as a whole. Whenever a person is confronted with an idea that they feel threaten their own beliefs they will most likely completely reject it from the start. And it sucks to see it happen here ignoring the posdibility that maybe I'm bringing something genuine to debate? All of history those who brought fringe ideas were rejected in the first place no matter if they were right or wrong.

So nothing new here, I guess.

Ok, my friend, I understood you, but the ones who do don't jump to respond. Do you got no allies. That's just basic tactics. I support ya. But I'm the Loki. The contrarian. But really, I do support ya. Can I send you a box of tissues....damn that's the Loki.

Seriously though, I've agreed with you pretty much this entire time. You're all good.

We love ya, nothing wrong with debate/discussion, especially on theology. Just takes some walking on eggshells here and there. Or blasting through like a juggernaut.

I am confident enough to say it’s subjective, it’s literal and/or it’s a metaphor
Not for me to decide how atheists or Christians take it

My faith is not in Genesis, my faith is in the God who was revealed in Jesus

The bible is not an easy book to understand, I would say most Christians are ignorant of it and I have made a few enemies with fundamentalist Christians here and other places

As for Genesis, science has a long way to go before I become an evolutionist, not that I am suggesting God couldn’t use evolution

No, because your version of God is not real. It's something you made in your mind.

So, where did you study theology, what do you understand about the gospel?
What do you think of the Arminian, Calvinist divide?
Do you believe in freewill, that God is a puppet master, predestination, eternal hell for humanity
Did Jesus need to die or was the fact He forgave people before He died evidence His death was not necessary

Why did God create humanity, let’s start with that question first, feel free to cheat and look up an answer on google

Maybe you should stop and consider, just for a few seconds, think and ask yourself this “Do I really understand all this, could I be a bit ignorant to theology”
I bet you have read the whole bible, havnt you?

I studied theology, hours and hours a day, years and years and I would call myself ignorant, but you, you claim you are not
I stated many Christians are ignorant of Christianity, speak to many often but you, you are not, really?

Maybe, really, you are but can’t admit it, maybe?

To be fair, nobody in this thread provided a good counter argument as to why God might not be just like you and me, a being in constant evolution. He clearly has some degree of perfections in him, there is no doubt about it.

Still, if he is still learning and always becoming a better version of himself, why would call him perfect? And you guys know that one good theory about reality is that God is experiencing the world of matter through our eyes and in turn getting knowledge through our experiences, right?
Maybe the future is already decided and he can see it, or maybe there are billions possible combinations as to where reality might go. Considering alternate parrallel dimensions are more and more being theorize by scientists, it makes even more sense to consider the universe is just one big learning machine in order to find one day the perfect combination. You know, the kind in which the whole creation didn't fell into so much madness.
