No, the future isn't that hard to perceive at all!

China is NOT going to invade Taiwan! PERIOD!!

........

Some "kids' here don't seem to understand World policy and strategic military posturing. This is not some joke. To the Russians, the Chinese are just a fly buzzing around their pate'. China invading Taiwan is playing in the "Big Leagues", not some action against some 3rd world country in Africa! China would NEVER do this! Not EVER!!!

To me, it's sounds as if you firmly believe that China is still stuck in the 1950's. Might I suggest doing a little real research in to their actual capabilities in 2021?

Remember, stone-age desert fighters can and have caused much death with antiquated weapons and such.

This is not 1950. And the Chinese are not stuck in the rice patties with crossbows.

The allies occupied those middle eastern nations, practically the job was hold and defend whilst policing and protecting civilians.

It stands to reason that suicide bombings, AK's and even rocks thrown from a large building can be deadly. The closest military comparison would be Vietnam, the US was fighting against guerrilla warfare whilst having overwhelming firepower and methods of detecting the enemy. Good things only work so long until they're countered there's plenty of information out their how the Viet Cong countered this or even dropped forms of communication. My point is the US weren't policing Vietnam, their was a lot more risk with Afghanistan and to a lesser extent Iraq. Their was no extensive jungle to hide in, their was no sam sites hidden or extremely motivated dug in positions to deal with on a daily basis. Yes Al Qaeda had fortifications and hide outs but the day to day threats often came from the very people you were policing yesterday... I genuinely don't think the cloak and dagger type surveillance of the middle East and the dynamics of such can be applied to Vietnam because of the scale and targets, I'm sure such comparisons are useless with China.

Taiwan alone has pretty remarkable stand off weapons and options, there'll be no policing of Taiwanese citizens either from what I've been told and learned, Taiwan plans to stand steadfast until backup arrives, that could be days for ground troops, weeks for the naval fleets but it could be minutes for air assets, minutes for their ammunition.

You can't fight when the enemy has air superiority and knows where you are, that was true in Nam and the ME. I'm fairly confident that the US could achieve this conventionally (air superiority) with it's arsenal and they won't be alone either... And China would be on the attack, not hiding like a hunter waiting for the opportunity to strike... That would be the job of the adversaries.

China won't try, even if they successfully took Taiwan the international fallout alone would destroy them.
