My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife, my ATS compadre.
"The achin' and the breakin' is the makin' of the soul."

We need struggle to make our soul.

I don't know what life would be like without struggle.

I guess that's Heaven.

I logged back in despite myself to comment on your post, you old fat bastard.

Sometimes when you think that all the pieces of your life are falling apart you just have to realize that all the pieces are coming together.

Love you Big Brother and I think that although it seems dark right now for you, things happen for a reason.

We just don't understand why till later.

Be strong like you know you are and things will work themselves out naturally.

Be there for your wife.

I am so sorry for your father in law and family. My child was just in for emergency appendicitis surgery two weeks ago. Nothing compared to what you are going through now but I do understand the desperation(for a better lack of a term).
May God be with you and yours.

Thank you little sister. You are right and so damned strong.

You've been through so much yourself.

I take strength in your posts.

My thoughts are with you.

I just had my dads funeral… surreal.

The hardest thing in my whole life was feeling the life leave my fathers hands.
No time to grieve…
I’m taking care of my mom, she has stage 4 cancer.
All while holding off the salivating relatives looking for breadcrumbs.
My mothers isn’t even freaking dead and all anyone wants to know about is money.
It sickens me to my core.
I planned my dads funeral. Siblings acted like idiots. Some days I feel I just can’t, but there is no
Choice, I have to go on. There have been bits of goodness too. Friends that have gone through extraordinary lengths to help.
My two eldest kids really grew up and came through for me when I needed them the most. My husband who has put up with more craziness than anyone should have to go through.

What I’m trying to say, is I feel ya. Go easy on yourself.

Positive energy and prayers out to your family. Life was never easy and won't be, it's daily survival for everyone not situated like us or fighting a sickness like your father-in-law.

That life sucks is pretty much the first out of four Noble Truths of Buddha's teachings.
The second one is the common reason. I'd add a tiny noble truth in between - that it sucks by design.

What the hell is up with the greed? My father in law isn't dead and we have family crawling out of the woodwork wanting money!

Everyone is talking a good game but no one is lifting a finger to help. They are just waiting for the opportunity to loot.

I've found in life some people are wired differently, some are really shallow and seem to only think about themselves, others have depth and compassion.

I'm not sure it's a good or bad thing, just how this reality is. I used to get really mad at people like that, but I've learned that shallowness is all they are capable of.

Adversity just reveals how people actually are.

And in my opinion, it's disgusting.

I get it. I deal with something similar in my family.

My parents are having their 50th this year, and my sister and I are expected to plan something for it. I've been eyeballing the fall, September, even though their actual anniversary is July 3rd.

Originally, it was because I knew the COVID stuff would be long done for the most part by then, but now it's because my cousin is moving and doing harvest all at once, and he wants to be in on the fun among other reasons.

I came up with a bunch of ideas, pow-wowed with my aunt who kindly volunteered her place for it, etc. I sent a long email to my sister. She claims she never got it ... fair enough. But when I passed all that by her, she wouldn't take the date. Had no other ideas of her own, but wouldn't take the date.

Of course, I haven't heard a thing from her since. Not a date, no plans, nothing, and I'm beginning to think I'll have to do it on my own no matter what she says.

But then, if one of my folks has a medical procedure of any kind, I'm always the one who's there for it sitting with the other parent. She never does.

So I know what you're saying on the family front.
