Ignore the trolls pal, one or two of them so obviously agents of conformity that you learn to just skip past whatever regurgitated nonsense they’re peddling as opinion.

In times of crisis what we often need IS conformity. We need to pull together against a common enemy or towards a common goal.

Covid is basically just a really nasty kind of flu, and it can be combatted using simply methods such as social distancing and mask wearing. If we had pulled together early on we'd be over this by now, but because this whole things became political people started disobeying simply because they didn't like who was making the rules. Or because their pride was hurt at being told what to do by the state. Even though it was the right things to do.

I'm not saying masks are bad, in fact, I think they are good.

You were doing great, right up to this nonsensical contradictory to your entire post comment.

They do not provide any meaningful protection, either for the wearer, or others near you. NONE. ZERO. NADA. ZILCH.

There is only one acceptable time/use for mask wearing - halloween or other 'masquerade type parties or events, but even then only if they don't impair your breathing.

Please. We have to stop apologizing and virtue signaling over this nonsense.

I'm done.

MASKS SUCK.

Both of which have been proven to do virtually nothing.

No. The best thing we can do is stop allowing those we hire to protect us to lie to us about cheap, effective ways to protect our health - sunshine, certain supplements (especially in times like these), and most importantly for those who are already sick and thus at extreme risk - safe, cheap and effective therapeutics like Ivermectin, Fluvoxamine, HCQ, Zinc, etc.

99% of the people that died during this plan/scam-demic didn't have to die, and their blood is on the hands of the likes of Fauci and every other politician and MSM talking head that participated in the cover up of these safe, cheap and effective therapeutics.

Or because their pride was hurt at being told what to do by the state. Even though it was the right things to do.

And that is just it... it wasn't and isn't 'the right thing to do'. The right thing to do was to save the people who got sick, instead of murdering them because the drugs that would save them are cheap and off patent and their use would prevent you from getting EUA for your shiny new extremely expensive and ineffective drugs that are under patent.

Plenty of oxygen comes through when you inhale, and plenty of C02 escapes when you exhale.

That is a bald faced LIE.

The way masks have been used during covid is ineffective at best, harmful at worst.

Harmful in more ways than one... the worst of which is the extremely harmful environmental impact...

If they truly were effective, then they should be treated as a bio-hazard, and require special and careful disposal.

The fact they aren't and don't makes the lie self-evident.

I kind of can confirm this.

A few weekends ago, I had to wear one. After three hours working and wearing this diaper, I couldn't think straight anymore, needed a rest and was groggy.

I am used to have my breath reduced, can work with little fresh air for long periods of time while still doing physical exhausting work. I do better there than with these masks just working at a screen and some physical work where needed.. As a cert. hobby diver, I know that CO2 re-breathing can be dangerous in other ways that are not pressure related like the divers sickness.

This is my point: the re-breathing of C02 and just how much specifically is kept inside a mask during normal breathing vs how much of it escapes at any given time. For essential workers, I assume that breathing would be elevated based on the strenuousness of their duties; thus, ,more diminished mental acuity.

People with certain respiratory diseases have problems similar to what wearing a mask yields, if the mask is worn often enough.

Might be at an indoor job, sitting for short term but I doubt it's appropriate for those doing hard labour out in the sun. It worries me for all the young folk forced into this unnecessarily.

I work out in the sun sometimes hauling heavy stuff and with permanent sinus issues I can guarantee you it didn't work for me.

In times of crisis what we often need IS conformity. We need to pull together against a common enemy or towards a common goal.

That's not how it works, though.

Yeah, I know, it would be nice if someone could just come up with an idea, demand that everyone follow it, and everyone follow it. But people are not like that. If one wishes for everyone to follow their lead, they have to L-E-A-D. That is not the same as demanding that others do as they say. In this particular case, here's what I saw:
  • I saw an outbreak in Wuhan, China. I saw China taking drastic measures to control it, yet not allowing free access to their data for the rest of the world. I saw China restricting flights in and out of Wuhan from other parts of China and allowing free access to Wuhan from everywhere else.

  • I saw "experts" in the field telling us there was nothing to worry about. I saw politicians going along with them, except for one man (I'll call him "X"). "X" actually made reasonable attempts to contain the outbreak, much to the dismay of all other politicians.

  • I saw New York ravaged by the virus. I watched Andrew Cuomo giving daily press briefings full of statistics detailing doom and gloom, all the while literally begging anyone to come help them. I saw "X" send him a naval hospital ship to handle non-virus cases so NY hospitals could concentrate on the virus; I saw him abuse that by sending viral patients to contaminate the naval ship. I saw someone else set up a tent hospital to help with the number of cases; I saw NY shut it down because it didn't have enough LGBTQRSTUV people in it. I saw Cuomo send people who were infected to nursing homes using force of law, apparently precisely so they could infect and kill others in those homes.

  • I saw politicians who were so worried that China might get a bad rap trying to tell me what to call the Chinese virus. I saw other politicians literally begging people to visit areas which were at high risk for importing the virus.

  • I saw those same "experts" that once said there was nothing to worry about now decide that everyone must panic. For two weeks. Just two weeks. That was a year and a half ago.

  • I saw my own governor, who I once supported, take it upon herself to implement controls on society so strict that she later had to amend her own order so people would legally flee an approaching tornado! I saw those policies forcing people into close contact and shutting down smaller businesses. And she was one of the nice ones... look at what Michigan did and is still doing!

  • I saw hospitals refusing to treat patients for anything else than the Chinese virus. I saw doctors who literally made their services next to impossible to obtain for fear of infection.

  • Amidst all of this, I saw a disease with a 99+% survival rate. And that's including the vehicle wrecks and cancer victims that suddenly were instead victims of the Chinese virus.

  • I saw our President take the disease, go into a hospital, and come back out within a few days none the worse for wear.

  • Then I saw Andrew Cuomo, the mass killer of New York, acclaimed for his actions during the "crisis," and simultaneously saw "X" degraded consistently for his actions which the "experts" admitted saved lives.
And you want to try and shame me for not going along with all this madness?

Maybe, just maybe, if we had leaders instead of wanna-be tyrants in the various offices, people might have actually thought about going along with the recommendations. But that's not gonna happen, and I'm not going to blindly follow anyone who keeps showing me an agenda. Don't like it? Change it.

I've been saying for the longest time that I felt excessive mask wearing was bad for our brains. According to some articles I read, too much CO2 affects cognitive ability; in other words, it makes you dumber. For those of us who have to wear masks at work for extended periods of time, we are only making ourselves dumber and dumber. This would be especially true for Essential Workers and other professions who worked thru the pandemic while having to wear masks for extended periods of time..

I make this post because excessive mask wearing is leading to a whole other pandemic in my opinion of dumbed down people.

Did you know that elevated levels of carbon dioxide or CO2 can play havoc with our cognitive ability? In today’s world it becomes all the more alarming because we spend 90% of our time indoors; in rooms with poor air quality and ventilation. Until a few years ago it was common knowledge that carbon monoxide and other VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) caused problems like asthma. CO2 was ignored and was not considered a gas that could be harmful. Yet many types of research conclude otherwise.

So what is the reason behind the impairments of the cognitive ability? According to medical research increased level of CO2 in the blood decreases the cerebral metabolism of oxygen. In simple words, the brain becomes oxygen deprived and has an impact on our thinking abilities. It is a well documented fact of what high levels of carbon dioxide can do to the brain.

I'm not saying masks are bad, in fact, I think they are good. However, EXCESSIVE mask wearing for extended periods of time on consecutive days has got to be bad for your brain in my opinion. Even though masks are ventilated they still trap some C02. I couldn't find any info for the exact amount of C02 trapped by a mask vs the amount that escapes a mask at any given time. I could only find that excessive C02 causes a condition called Hypercapnia

Hypercapnia: Elevated levels of carbon dioxide in the blood that can cause dizziness, shortness of breath, headache and, in extreme cases, hyperventilation, seizures and possible death.

It feels as if it's a dilemma because mask wearing definitely helps, but it also makes you dumber in the process of potentially saving your life, in my opinion. I have read several counter articles which say that wearing a mask is totally safe and that the levels of trapped C02 are minimal but I wonder what period of time was used to determine this. 1 minute, 1 hour, etc? Now, we're gonna have to keep wearing masks even if we've been vaccinated.

AM I a rambling old man or is there something to my assertion about excessive mask wearing? What say you, ATS?

medium.com...#:~:text=According%20to%20medical%20research%20increased,impact%20on%20our%20th inking%20abilities.

I don’t doubt that an increased CO2 level in your blood makes you mentally slower. However you are making the unsubstantiated assumption that masks actually do increase the CO2 level. According to the doctor in this video that’s not true:

uihc.org...

He measures both the oxygen level and CO2 level in the blood after wearing a mask for two hours and can’t find any differences from not wearing a mask.

What a mask does do is add resistance to the airflow both breathing in and breathing out. That makes you do more work breathing than you would otherwise do, and that’s uncomfortable. Doesn’t make you dumber, just more uncomfortable.

Thank you for an intelligent response. But... surgeons are allowed to work 24 hour shifts if the job requires it. Will they have to take breaks and change gear? Yes. But a specialty surgeon is not going to stop until the job is done, and they will not change gear until they have to leave the room.

I used to refinish hardwood floors. Mask for 10-12 hours a day for sawdust and chemicals.

Surgical, construction, and cloth masks all leave a gap on both sides of your nose. That's where your breath is going to go, the path of least resistance. Plenty of oxygen comes in, and plenty of co2 goes out.

I just posted an explanation of how those long operations happen. As for the 24-hour shifts, there is a huge difference between "on duty" and "operating on a patient."

Will they have to take breaks and change gear? Yes. But a specialty surgeon is not going to stop until the job is done, and they will not change gear until they have to leave the room.

You've been watching M*A*S*H too much.

What does a surgeon do after a few hours when nature starts calling? Does he do the little pee-pee dance while operating? Maybe you think he wears a diaper? Or does he make sure the patient is stable long enough to take his needed nature break so he has steady hands to finish? OR nurses actually do a lot of the heavy lifting, especially in more complex cases, leaving the surgeon more available for the fine work he and he alone is qualified for. And everyone who enters the OR during the operation, be it nurse, orderly, anesthesiologist, or surgeon, dons new gear to maintain sterility.

I used to refinish hardwood floors. Mask for 10-12 hours a day for sawdust and chemicals.

I used to wear a bandana for harsh chemicals, too... although I never needed one for sawdust. I also got rid of the mask when it became too oppressive, usually after a couple of hours. It only takes a few minutes of fresh air to restore the body, and it's a good idea to not wallow in those fumes for too long, mask or no mask.

Surgical, construction, and cloth masks all leave a gap on both sides of your nose. That's where your breath is going to go, the path of least resistance. Plenty of oxygen comes in, and plenty of co2 goes out.

So you agree that the masks actually filter very little? Well, I must say, I didn't expect an agreement so soon.

Of course, now I'm confused: all those nasty chemicals and sawdust couldn't enter your lungs from those gaps? Must have been some pretty arrogant chemicals and sawdust to decide they were either coming in through the filter or not at all.

I'm starting to think you're trying to prove the OP's point... you seem pretty confused.
