And people wonder why these people aren't trusted.
The Robertson Panel, as it came to be known,, was hampered by men of Page's mindset and thrown off by the highly selective presentation of UFO cases by the CIA, charged one of the attending Air Force officers. "We were double-crossed," commented a Blue Book member. "The CIA (didn't) want to prepare the public - they're trying to bury the subject. Those agents ran the whole show and the scientists followed their lead.
Another typical Government UFO LIE was uttered by Dr. Donald Menzel, a professor of Astronomy at Harvard. However, I had discovered in his papers at the Harvard Archives after receiving the required permission from three different people to view them, that he had a TOP SECRET Ultra clearance with the CIA and a very long history of work for the National Security Agency, the CIA, and many other companies. He said in Physics Today “All the non-explained sightings are from poor observers.”

I think, if it hasn't been done, that we can add Carl Sagan to the list..
Admiral Bobby R. Mantis beings create bubble like force fields to travel through time and space. In lower dimensions they create living spherical ships of light. In higher dimensions they can send their light bodies in single bubbles of light across the universe.

I didnt watch the video in the OP, as Im currently binging on other UFO docs.
After a year of unprecedented UFO activity and genuine concern by the U.S. national security community, the hammer came down in early 1953 to put the matter to sleep once and for all.
CIA Papers Detail UFO Surveillance:
Newsclipping
Documents obtained in a lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency show that the agency is secretly involved in the surveillance of unidentified flying objects and has been since 1949, an Arizona based U.F.O. group said yesterday.
The C.I.A. has repeatedly said that it investigated and closed it's books on U.F.O.'s during 1952, according to Ground Saucer Watch, a nation-wide research organization of about 500 scientists, engineers and others who seek to scientifically prove or disprove the existence of U.f.O.'s, but 100 pages of documents obtained under a freedom of information suit, show "the Government has been lying to us all these years," it said.
Embassies Gather Information Mr. Spaulding an aerospace engineer with Airesearch, one of the largest producers of aerospace components, said the documents show the United States embassies are used to help gather information on U.F.O. sightings and that the information "seems to be directed to the C.I.A., the White House and the National Security Agency."
A C.I.A. memo of Aug. 1, 1952, recommends continued agency surveillance of "flying saucers," saying, "it is strongly urged, however, that no indication of C.I.A. interest or concern reach the press or public, in view of their probably alarmist tendencies to accept such interest as 'confirmatory' of the soundness of 'unpublished facts' in the hands of the U.S. government," the document said.

For a while I have wondered what the reason behind it all actually is. What would be the prize worth all this trouble and effort?

Probably best to watch the video mate as an informed discussion would be nice.
Have no doubt that UFOs are an extremely serious mystery (which governments take extremely seriously) but when it comes to the CIA they're probably the last organisation on earth I would trust to tell the truth about it.
After a year of unprecedented UFO activity and genuine concern by the U.S. national security community, the hammer came down in early 1953 to put the matter to sleep once and for all.
Quite a number of historical documents and newsclippings out there dealing with the CIA's negative manipulation of public perception - also found it revealing that whilst they were doing it they were also actively engaged in UFO research.

Seems to me the one thing this group has done is to constantly lie to the general public about unidentified flying objects.
What makes you think they've stopped now?
When he provides sources, they appear to be good. Like the CIA admitting the government lied, he cites a NYT article with that headline (time 33:43):

Have to say I'm a fan of DJ's straightforward no nonsense delivery and his critical thinking skills.
It's absolutely refreshing. No cheesey music, no goofy intro graphics an no irrelevant dialog. Also appreciate he sources his information not wasting my time with sheer opinion.
Yes, not buying what the CIA is selling is something we can agree on, Greenewald certainly doesn't buy it either. In regard to why they are doing it, I can't say I know for sure. It would be interesting if anything DJ says comes to pass for the things you just summarized, but if I have to guess the why, I'm leaning more toward Greenewald's speculation that it's a "muddy the waters" strategy, to populate the field with so much nonsense like the batman balloon and "pyramid UFO" that people will tend to dismiss any future reports they hear as more nonsense crap like the batman balloon or "pyramid" that's just bokeh.

Yes mate, didn't agree on every point but certainly thought he made a very compelling case about the importance of not buying what these people are selling.
He does go into some admittedly deep speculation in the updated vid about the (corporate sponsored) hysteria and uproar being used as potential justification for suspension of rights, continuity of government, deflection for missing Pentagon trillions etc..
