Truth is...this was only a matter of time when Uncle Sam thought it wise to tie everything together with 50's tech.

I mentioned this in another thread, I'm in IMS, you'd crap yourself if you knew the type of software and encryption that major names use to protect your data and identity. They just don't want to spend money on it.

Perfect example...now imagine four of those running independantly. Anyway, funny how nothing is new really.

Hell, grow some tats...the Egyptians used em for batteries. With all these led lights, a 50 lb bag would last awhile...then make fries and process the oil for your bio diesel. lol Although fry grease has too much water.

I live in the NW so trees and water is not an issue. Ya LEDs are crazy, I swapped out the two lights by my front door with two motion detector LEDs, and I had to remove one because they were so bright. Even the one is 2x+ brighter than the other two bulbs that were there before with hardly any power needed.

I buy my meat by the 1/2 cow too, but no electricity would hurt there. I got 400 lbs right now, so really just trying to stay ahead of the next toilet paper scenario...lol

Even under other presidents who responded to events... They didn't show their hand immediately after.

It's been days... If there is a response, they should keep that hidden until it's executed.

That said, I don't necessarily expect Biden to act swiftly and in a way that impresses us all. I don't view him as an omnipotent leader.

Makes one wonder how many are still using systems from the 70s...

Worse. I'm under so many NDA's but it's terrifyingly bad.

I'm on the outskirts of a country town so small it's considered a village. Population 750, and all but my last 2 miles of travel is all open highway and interstate. In fact, here's a cool pic I got of the sunrise at the edge of town. Open it at full size to get a better picture of how sleepy and small my town is.

A used Leaf are as low as 6k, might get ya 100 to 150 miles on a charge, and they can drive whatever speed limit you have while good in all weather conditions.

It was an act of war. Special ops know how to handle these situations.

I know for a fact we have special ops who are armed with computers instead of guns doing similar things.

Do we know if dark side is state sponsored or a rogue actor? If it's a rogue actor, conventional warfare isn't an (wise) option.

There's a lot of unknowns with this.

But if I had to speculate, hitting them at their own game, cyber warfare, is likely the measured response needed. Hack the group, pillage and dox.

it seems you have answered your own question. He needs to DO SOMETHING. We have options, we have help, it's time to use some of that and investigate this, then stop this group. They will continue doing this until they are stopped.

We've gotten into Russia's eletric grid and left code for them to find so they saw we were there.

So I know it's been done, and it can likely be done to a similar extent again.

But the question here is again, was this state sanctioned.

I never bought into Russia directly aligning with Trump, but I do however humor them trying to sew discord within America. So I think we should tread carefully. That's not to say we don't react/respond.... But how we discuss this as citizens is important. And I don't think instantly putting issues in partisan context before they're allowed to be discussed is the wisest approach for us as a nation.

I find it odd that everything is political, including things that effect us all.

I'm not looking at this through a political lens, just a practical one. We need to find who did this, and find a way to punish them so that the world sees it and doesn't want to test the waters again. Biden, Harris, or whomever will be in charge tomorrow. I don't care. But to do nothing, invites more to try the same tactics. And eventually, we may run out of ransom money to pay, and that would be bad.

I think I know of a good way to send a clear message that this will not be tolerated... Bear with me.

I used to work with a lady, older and black, who was in elementary school during segregation. In - I want to say - her 5th grade year, they had a teacher that she swears would make you sit beneath her desk if you were being bad. So I says to her, I says, "Why would she make you sit under her desk?" The lady told me the teacher would put bad students under there, scoot her chair in to block them, and fart several times before letting them out 10 or 15 minutes later. ANNND she always wore a dress. She said every kid in the school was afraid to act up in that teacher's class. I thought I had it bad in K when I got in trouble and the teacher made me stand in front of the class holding a pale in each hand with my arms extended until I cried from my arms hurting.

I found it hilarious that a teacher had a sense of humor, but this lady was still traumatized by it half a century later.

Brother, I'm just being facetious about getting an electric car. I'd have to be beyond desperate to go that route. I'd just as soon drive a golf cart than a Leaf. Hell I can't even drive my mom's 4-Runner without my knees hitting the dash and interfering with the wheel when I try to turn.

Oh wow, Eastern Europeans. I guess that officially they are not saying they paid Russians because they really don't know who is doing it. Our government doesn't get involved in this under Biden I see. Hmmm. Why not? It is a threat to all Americans and every American will be paying more for gas. They will probably raise the price of gas so they get double what they paid out. That would be a terrorist attack, inciting panic buying is still inciting panic.

I'm 6'5" 280 lol... My one son is doing door dash and making about 25 to 30 per hour for pocket money. My wife who has been a stay at home mom, said she could do that when the kids our out of the house but an electric car would make it more profitable.

You got me by 3", I don't know how you could sit in such a small area lol. How much is just one battery for those things anyways? I heard they were quite pricey.

I have a feeling we get punished more than the hacker group.

If they're half as sophisticated as they look, they're hiding behind multiple proxies, and aren't static in location.

They won't be able to target them seeing as they're most likely in a foreign country that doesn't extradite.

So the two options are hit them with cyber attacks, which we might knock out 30k in electronics seeing as they probably store their crypto offline or already made it liquid...

Option two is regulation on how open the internet is, or regulation on crypto.

My guess (if anything happens) is the latter. Seeing as after recent attacks we just punish law abiding citizens or increase surveillance.
