No
I just don't think police should execute people for being drunk in public.

Are you always so pissy when someone disagrees with you?

Or is it just me?

I don't see an execution.

They were practically begging the guy to stop resisting.

I'm not even sure we're seeing that same vid?

Dude would still be alive with no police officer interaction.
Text on a screen carries no emotion other than what you choose to attach.

I don't even know what that means. What are you talking about?

Dude would also be alive if he just complied with the officers repeated
please to not resist them.

Drunk in public does not carry an immediate execution by cop punishment.

Of course they can, you already admitted that.

I said no such thing. No one can ask you for your ID, they can only ask your identity.

Not the reason they accosted the man in the video as by their own words in said video.

Let's see here. I know I saw a guy who parked his car across the street, got out, left his very loud music and lights of the car on, and was stumbling around on the sidewalk aimlessly and even onto the neighbor across the street's front lawn.
Should I have not called the police and let him drive away in a condition that looked like he was extremely intoxicated, as well as not being a familiar person in the neighborhood?

I guess not, because I am white and he was black. Too bad, so sad, did it and would do it again if not just for the music at that hour of the night waking me up and rattling my windows. GTFOH with that ghetto crap, we're trying hard to keep this little block of the 'hood in relatively decent shape. Fact is, I think once you enter a residential neighborhood it should be a law that you turn your damn music down, no matter the hour. Taking away from the enjoyment of my property, never able to keep the windows open in the summer because of selfish idiots.

Same with a park. I don't want kids around some daily drunkard who can't seem to keep his vices in his own home, much like people that drive with tinted windows, temp plates and hotbox their product they're slinging (weed, I'm talking about weed). Go ahead, call me a Karen, but you screw around in my 'hood I am watching and will def call the cops on your sorry azz if you're acting a foo. Grow up and take some responsibility and for God's sake, stop resisting arrest!

You may beat the rap but you can't beat the ride.

Was this police brutality, manslaughter or were the police officers just doing their job?

Just doing their jobs.

That said, there needs to be a ban on the use of the tactic of putting people on the ground and putting any weight on them.

The only question is what to replace it with, and how you deal with someone resisting arrest. I'm thinking a fast acting tranquilizer of some kind, maybe two versions, one with a much higher dose for people who are obviously hyped up on drugs.

Or maybe some kind of fast deploying net that will wrap them up in something warm and cozy, but immobilize them.

Cool story, what does that have to do with the person in the video?

That would just be countless lawsuits waiting to happen. Everyone reacts to tranquilizers in different ways and there's no way for the police to know if a person is going to have a bad reaction.

There's a reason anesthesiologists are some of the highest paid doctors out there. Using drugs to put someone to sleep is a very delicate and dangerous procedure that requires extensive training.

Same thing. So you do admit the police had the right to detain and identify the man, that's a step forward for you.

Not one police officer in the country can detain you for not producing your ID. Why are you arguing this? Do you know the difference between producing ID and identifying yourself? This is the level of ignorance about your rights that leads to encounters like this.
a reply to: AugustusMasonicus

I am not arguing anything. I am telling you that you think you are a tough guy. A joke. You do not have to say anything to the police but you should be smart about it. I mean. Here you are all talking about how horrible cops are and in the same sentence you talk about how you will defy them. A joke man. You are a joke. All of you. Wanna be tough guys....

They "accosted" the man because he was resisting detention.

The biggest difference is that when he went unresponsive, they tried really hard to resuscitate him. Chauvin kept kneeling, with a smug look and his hands in his pockets.

They also seem to not have a hostile crowd around them either screaming at them. What you saw in that now infamous single still from a video with Floyd is your perception. None of us knows what was going through his mind then. Maybe one day we will get his side, maybe not...
