Knowing my luck, it would be that one.

Is it Chinese?
Also...what is it's primary wood?
In good condition your piece could be worth a small fortune.

I am only kidding Augustus, hence the smiley face.

I wish i did have a Chippendale cabinet. I would buy ATS with the proceeds of the sale.

As i replied to Augustus, i am just being light hearted.

You are correct, some Chippendale furniture you would need to be very wealthy to purchase.

I can but dream.

That’s one of the things I’ve really missed, traveling and stopping at Antique stores, stopping at roadside barn sales. Can’t wait to do it again.

Local antique stores aren't the same as they used to be.
The good stuff is gone...and they're all filling up with that Chip & Joanna Gaines crap.

There are still a few good ones in Wisconsin. I will say they are starting to cater to the younger crowd and have more MCM & 60’s 70’s type of stuff which is not my thing.
There is another place that is like you mentioned, all newer made to look vintage....junk

Most of the really good stuff still goes through auctions, occasionally I find something on eBay but I'm not really looking anymore. The house is at the point where it's tastefully appointed and not overfilled with unused items. I hate clutter and buying things just to have them isn't my thing.

I hate clutter too, but there is always a piece you didn’t know you have to have!!!

There's honestly nothing I want anymore, I managed to obtain pieces from my bucket list of cabinet makers with the exception of Herter Brothers.

Believe it or not...same here.
I can't stand clutter.
Nice pieces should be showcased in the room so they can be better enjoyed.
Arbitrary decorative crap only distracts....Plus, I like open surfaces.
Collections belong in lighted cabinets.

I agree. I also like to use/have guests use everything and if the house is cluttered up it kind of hampers that. People are always surprised how comfortable the furniture is considering some of it dates from the 1840's.

Probably that Meeks Gothic Revival chair I posted above, the Belter settee in the sitting room is also a rare piece. There was a Gothic Revival bookcase I missed out on back in the early 2000's which if it came up I'd buy in an instant.

Wow, that’s amazing, can’t say I’m there yet, or ever will be. There are still things that peak my fancy.

One of my favorite pieces is an 1840's Philadelphia 'Hairy Clawfoot' mahogany game table.
It's in mint condition...and I bought it many years ago for only $400.
