“I got out there and sat down on the toilet and immediately something bit my butt right as I sat down,” Shannon Stevens told The Associated Press on Thursday. “I jumped up and I screamed when it happened.”

An Alaska woman had the scare of a lifetime when using an outhouse in the backcountry and she was attacked by a bear, from below.

Talk about FOUR nightmares at once.
A freezing cold area, having to use an outhouse, and then a bear chomping on your hoohaw.
But wait, it gets better, having to have your BROTHER tend your wounds.


Pretty sure I would have just bled out in that situation! lol

I think redback spider in the porta-potty for the second time in 5 months would be worse than the bear.

At least with the bear, you're pretty well masticated so people aren't going to be thinking about making fun of you for what happened. This poor guy got pretty roundly made fun of. "Spider bit your dangly!"

I'd take the bear, over the spider.

But damn, I will be checking any outhouse I may have to use. Seems like there had to be a way for the bear to get down there, unless he fell in. Of course then he has a right to be angry!

Poor Shannon, she's just gotta grin and bear it. As for the spider thing, could a side affect be swelling in the area?????? 21 year old probably going for gold.
Don't look at this ladies:- My friends wife was a casualty nurse and had a man bought into ER with a vibrator stuck up his back passage. After it was removed he said " just put fresh batteries in it and replace".

You don't mess around with a spider bite in that area. Neighbor kid where I grew up apparently got a brown recluse in his shorts and was embarrassed to say anything to his parents about it. As a consequence, they didn't know anything was wrong until the gangrene set in and it started to smell.

He lost parts of his bits and pieces because of that reluctance to speak up.

Damn...i've seen mice and rats at the bottom of outhouses...bonus points if you hit em....but a bear...now never seen that.

I was going to click on it but yeah I’ll take your word for it.
Over the years I have gotten better about spiders but not too much better.

Yeah, don't click. It's possibly the worst spider encounter I can think of. The only way it could have been worse is if the spider was also a clown.
