Yeah but it's about more than getting old. There is a sinister aspect to it psychologically.

Listen to it.

Everybody is crying over something. Or needy. Or neurotic. Or vain and superficial. All of the songs that get played over and over is trash and it leaves you feeling like crap.

Todays music is rubbish. Today's movies are rubbish. The tv is rubbish. It's all about shock value, and shock value is all about reprogramming your mind. I've downloaded some instrumental music, no words.

Yea.. Radio is aweful. But was it ever great? The internet made radio 1000x better with pandora, spotify ect..

Radio was never great. At least while i was alive. They only focus on playing hits. Wether it's old rock, new rock, pop, or rap, it's usually the same songs over and over.

Radio is terrible and is afraid to do anything differn't.

There is good music and tv today but you won't ever know that if you follow the mainstream.

Whend driving, podcasts are my go to. Listening to a hilarious comedian podcast while driving is the best way to kill time.

Sounds like every song written ever honestly. I mean the blues are a genre devoted to people crying about everything, love songs and ballads tend to have needy, neurotic people declaring their love, rap, rock and heavy metal tends to be pretty vain and superficial, pop music is all those things combined.

I'm just teasing mostly, I get what you mean, mainstream music is pretty garbage. Like significantly worse garbage than before.

Trust me, I seen in person when people would randomly started doing the gungan style dance or whatever it was that was making people spontaneously break out into dancing upon hearing it. Like I actually seen this once or twice in person.

I'm fairly aware of the psychological manipulation that music is capable of.

Try Yo Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. They put out some CDs some years ago that are fabulous.

Haunting yet beautiful.

Can't see myself listening to it every day though.

I agree, only on "special" occasions!

I have a certain playlist for these types of songs. I only play this playlist perhaps once every few months...on "special" occasions when I feel especially sad I suppose. I'm weird haha always have been.
much love to all of you!

I have several good stations in my area and I use IHeart Radio to stream Q95 out of Indianapolis.
The Bob and Tom Show in the morning and really great rock all day. They play music for about 3 hours, then cram all their advertising into 10 minutes.
Other than ads, no politics, no BS, just traffic reports and weather.

I like The Bob and Tom Show, but I'm more of a Free Beer and Hot Wings kind of guy. Dolewhite and Scooby every now and then back when Scoob was still alive. I listen to the Breakfast Club every now and then as well.

I take complete exception to your OP, radio does NOT need to die!!

What needs to die is Main Stream Media, owned by one or two corporations.

I actually worked in radio in my younger years and it is a truly free medium. On cable you can only tune in so many MSM channels (all the channels they want you to tune in), but on radio you can tune in any channel you like.

If you don't like a channel you can turn the dial. Cable isn't like that.

I think you've picked the wrong enemy!

I remember the station I worked at went against the whole town, and ultimately the state. The politicians came after the owner with a vengeance, but we, the station, stayed on the air despite it all. The issue was corruption, and ultimately the mayor and the state governor went down because of it. Radio is a powerful thing...if you understand it.

Don't let cable fool you...there's a whole lot more "radio" out there than you can possibly imagine!

I know, I did it!

I love music. It adds quality to life and experience for the most part. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, but also listen to a lot of instrumentals and scores.

Check out Moby's ambient stuff. There's like four hours worth of free downloadable stuff on his website. Aphex Twin also has some good ambient stuff, and then there's always classical.
