For just over a month now, I have tuned out.

No more associated press, reuters slanted fake news.
No more cringy radio hosts toeing the line and sounding oh so sensible in their coerced support of the global narrative surrounding the chinese virus, anti-Trump fervor and whatever the talking points of the day involve.

I got them out of my head and guess what? I am so much calmer in traffic I don't even recognize myself.

Todays music is rubbish. Today's movies are rubbish. The tv is rubbish. It's all about shock value, and shock value is all about reprogramming your mind.

I've downloaded some instrumental music, no words.

I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes to my day, you have to experience it for yourself.

I still trawl the new topics on ATS every day and that seems to suffice. Apart from that I still get news from right-wing and leftwing sources on fb, but I don't actively seek it out and usually I skip past it.

Googlemaps or wayze for traffic info.

Get THEM out of your head and feel the load simply disappear. Stop supporting these things that make you feel sick.

Might I suggest something from one of our members?

There's words in there that I can't make out and I dont know how my brain interprets it.

I'm listening to purely instrumental music, and my own creativity and interpretation gives it meaning as opposed to being steered.

Audio books are my go to. I do Hoopla, Cloud Library, and Audible.

There is always something you can find to take your mind of the troubles of the day, and Cloud Library and Hoopla are free.

Of course it does add a few minutes to my drive time because I always have to finish up the chapter before I get out o the car.

For the record, I do have some instrumental stuff, but it's pretty synthwave.

I've tried audiobooks but my mind seems to wander off pretty quickly.

Ive been thinking of getting my German and Portuguese back to a decent level I can see audiobooks helping with that.

It's only when I learned and could still speak German that I realized how another language can completely rewire your way of thinking and ultimately how you express yourself.

And I have to learn an African language. I feel a lot of what they mean to say in english or my mother tongue gets lost along the way. I know a lot of Africans that I would love to converse with in their own tongue. It's going to be one of the few genuine new thrills I can still experience in my lifetime.

Good point!

Which is why I have such a small collection currently. If it makes me feel good it makes the cut.

You like instrumental? 👍 I have always loved instrumental from the first time I became interested in music. An ATS member recently showed me this one and it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. This song is good for headphones or a good loud stereo drive in the car.

For your listening pleasure, I present to you, Igorr ..

That's called called getting old dude. Now you know how your parents felt when you were young. But it's ok, I pretty much agree with you...i'm still at the only 99% of everything is phase myself.

Yeah...i've found the last while I can't really listen to music with words. I've been listening to a lot of dub music and ambient psychedelic electronica and stuff lately.

I will offer one suggestion. You ever heard of Yiruma?

I'll admit, I don't listen to him very often, but every once in awhile, some nice soothing piano music is exactly what I need.

Haunting yet beautiful.

Can't see myself listening to it every day though.
