Yeah I heard that, but the wording was different on their websites and their word use was correct according to Webster.

ETA: Here is the distinction made on your linked website . . .

While equality means that everyone gets the same resources from government, regardless of their circumstances, equity seeks to address systemic and historical imbalances within society by distributing resources depending on individual need.

Vice President Kamala Harris explained the issue in a speech given two days before the election: "Equality suggests, 'Oh, everyone should get the same amount.' The problem with that, not everybody's starting out from the same place."

I can see the flaw here in both ideas. As of this moment, we are equally free to pursue our interests and to succeed or fail. However, no one has the right to be equally successful in any amount, you have to earn it but you at least have the opportunity to try under the constitution.

In other words PAYBACK or BACK PAY, however you want to interpret things.

"Distributing resources depending on individual need"

Ok sounds great. I'm going to quit my job, which will make me extremely needy. I'm gonna need my mortgage paid, my student loans eradicated (I paid those off myself but I'm entitled to whatever "equity" my peers get who majored in underwater basket weaving and haven't paid their loans off yet), my children's education costs nullified, and I'm gonna need a basic income to afford our smart phones, data plans, nice clothing, etc.

So VEEP Kramala, how do I sign up for this need-based equity?

Oh, .... you said it's not offered to me because I'm a white male, ohhhh. Wait no. That's wrong. I don't /identify/ as a white male any longer. That's the miscommunication here. See I have a small amount of Native American heritage, so I took my cue from Elizabeth Warren and went ahead and identified as non-white minority. Better now? KTHANKS

This is a complete abrogation of any and all individual merit, achievement, hard work and personal responsibility. Also known as socialism. But see this is a different brand of socialism: Identity Socialism. Some types of people are more needy, and more deserving of "equity", than others.

I think we can all generally agree the truth tends to float upwards. And while the current round of mass hysteria may have people agreeing the sky is blue...it won't last forever. I view this through Strauss Howe, and think this cycle is nearing is crescendo, and will begin to fall apart over the next 5 years. The reality of what is happening here:

A small group of people with a large amount of audience are pushing this stuff. They have managed to get agreement from a good enough portion of the populace that the nonsense is now mainstream. Its something like only 10% of a population needed to believe something to tip the rest of the population to follow. Problem is, its so preposterous on its face to push the gender stuff. And the equality stuff more or less breaks down to a worldview that cannot be altered that easily. For a good cross section of how this stuff is being received, I'd recommend just scrolling through the Top filter on Reddit. Reddit is as liberal as any forum can be....and even there you find a general consensus that its stupid simmering underneath a very vocal minority that talks about stuff like TERF.

There will always be inequality when you have one group who wants to smoke weed, lay in be and play videos games and a second group gets up at 6 am and works hard for 8-10 hours, but both want the same "pay" for the day.

But what about the people who smoke weed all day and work 8-10 hours. What about the people who work 8-10 hours but at bare minimal effort...

NOT everyone IS intrinsically equal, how would that be addressed?

Don't misunderstand, I firmly believe in treating all with equality, and respect...until they prove themselves unequal. But I am also firmly against concepts like social equity and inclusion. Not since bush's "no child left behind" have heard such drivel.

Flat out, society needs to re learn what personal responsibility is and stop expecting the government, or anyone else for that matter, to fix thier personal problems.

I look at like this, everyone wants to be the man, but no body really doesn't want to be the man.

I like Russell Peters; funny guy. The bit he did about the Indian/Chinese soccer match was hilarious.

(Tried to find it on YouTube but only clips I saw were of the last 30 seconds of the bit oddly; need to see the whole 2+ minutes for context)
