Blocking Members?

Just wanted to put a query out there...

Is it possible to block/ignore certain members?

This is a feature that is relatively common on many forums and I was wondering if it would be something that'd be considered at ATS at all?


The method works as follows...

Right-click on a member name... choose "ignore" or "block", and no further posts or threads by said member will be visible to the blocker.
Of course the posts and threads will still be visible to all other members.

Nope. Not possible. ATS wants open debate and all voices heard regardless of irritation. We are expected to be adults on an adult site. If it were possible the conversation around here would not be nearly as... entertaining. They did have the option a very long time ago. They removed it for the reasons above.

I just hold my hand over DB's posts. Low tech answer but it still works.

I use electrical tape across the screen. Sometimes it blocks other people's posts. c'est la vie

Oh no... you can still be censored, just not by other members. Mods hold the power!

ATS is one of the few spaces left where we can't ignore each other and live in our echo chambers.

That type of censorship exists on Facebook and Twitter and most liberal places.

Thankfully not here on ATS. Yet.

I don't support censorship in this case. Merely enquired about personal options.

Block no. Ignore yes. It's a pretty simple method. When you see the name of someone who's post you don't want to read, keep scrolling until the next username pops up. Done.

Would just make my life easier to simply "eliminate" those "mad-putz" threads but alas...

I feel your pain... I can't stop myself when I see trolls post though. Sucks me right in like a tractor beam no matter how hard I try to fight the urge not to click.

Try painters tape. It sticks good and is too easy to break out of so it can't be used on people like duct tape. That's what I hear anyways. I have several spare rolls I no longer need and don't mind sending you one.
