Trump approved the mobilization of the National Guard. After the events of Jan 6 I believe he was either pressure to do this or he is trying to save what little left of his legacy or both by preventing a repeat of what happened on Jan 6.

I think more that he was pressured to do it with impeachment and 25th Amendment hanging over his head.

I'm probably just being stoopid, maybe it's the meds, but I don't get it. It doesn't make sense.

There are nearly THREE entire DIVISIONS of military personnel converging on DC!! The entire D-Day invasion in Europe was only 3 divisions of US troops for cripes sakes!!! Yes, there were some British and Canadian troops also, but still D-Day was the largest mobilization of men and machines in the history of mankind!!

For the last ten days, most departments have been reporting to Mike Pence. Partly because the departments no longer have any faith in Trump, partly because Trump stopped giving a schitt weeks ago.

It's not a coupe because nobody has seizedis seizing power. This is a simple mobilization to support local law enforcement in anticipation of a civil disturbance.

If anything this is preventative measure designed to stop a coupe.
