How would that thing even fly, there´s no wings. lol.

Case closed.

First you claim it's a plastic bag floating above the clouds. Then you question its flying capabilities because, it has no wings...

Plastic bags don't have wings either. lol

Case re-opened

But seriously, I've seen two different zoomed in pictures already. Describing it as a 'cube' doesn't add any creedence either.

What’s lacking still... is the immediate implementation and deployment of sensors pods and or the use of mounted hi res 4K etc. standard photography and standard video cameras. Yes there are other formats EO, IR, etc.....but I’m talking basic simple shots and video in place of using camera phones.

So far...this is a sensor (shown below) not fully deployed, I assume, to all or most Navy and Air Force squadrons.

Below that, is a camera type that also should be used for the standard photography and standard videos I’m speaking of.....this type of cameras can be revised to be military graded and poded.

Ya but what makes you think they will release any of that to the public? This photo was never meant to leak to the public. According to everyone in this thread 3-4 intelligence agencies have just been passing around pictures of balloons on all of their intranets.

The “balloon” would have to be massive, given the distance from the object....

How did you ascertain the distance between the plane and the object?

Son of a gun...

It's just a fly on the windshield. (he said jokingly)

As I stated in a different thread...

Wow, it really does look like that Batman balloon.
My thoughts on this photo aside from the statement discrepancies (triangle in a cube or whatever) are this.
This Hornet is at quite the altitude, if I had to hazard a guess I would say in the flight levels even FL200 or above.
I think I read somewhere here this Batman balloon was approx 46cmx46cm pretty damn small.
Looks like they are out over the ocean (middle of nowhere).
Chances of them screaming past a small relatively stationary Batman balloon that high up in the middle of nowhere are pretty slim.
If this is a photo of the alleged Batman balloon that flight crew knows it, there is no way that photo was taken without multiple passes if it was a stationary balloon. The WSO could never have gotten his cell phone out in time. Even if he had it sitting somewhere in the cockpit by the time he grabbed it, turned the phone on, unlocked it with his gloves on, oops can’t do that gotta take the gloves off, that balloon would be 2 miles behind them. Hence multiple passes a photo and a positive I.D if it was indeed a Batman balloon or any balloon for that matter.
If they were chasing an object I suspect things would be different and the WSO would be busy doing his job and unable to snap pics.
I don’t know what it is but I’m betting the flight crew has a good idea.
Has there been an official statement or report from the flight crew regarding the incident?

Edit: Ok I think there is a piece of land jutting out from under the nose of the aircraft so might not be in the middle of nowhere.

And...

My gut feeling is telling me this is likely a balloon.

The flight crew obviously did not deem the object a threat. The fact it was in visual range and the WSO was able to snap a photo says it all. His focus is on taking a picture.

Again, if this is a legit undoctored photo of a relatively stationary object multiple passes would most likely have been done with a positive I.D. If they were in pursuit the WSO would have been focusing on his job.

These folks are now encouraged to report UAP’s. This crew most likely confirmed a balloon floating around in one of their training areas. Adding to the information they are gathering on incursions in their training areas proving not ALL UAP’s are the little green guys.

That being said, I can count on five fingers the amount of times I have seen balloons floating around the past 15 years as a pilot.

I also don’t have much faith in a cell phone picture being the smoking gun in revealing the truth here, unless a relatively large craft is dancing around off one off your wingtips.

I do however feel there is some funny business going on in these training areas, alien or not.

A very interesting photo indeed. Being highly allergic to cats, I would recognise that face anywhere. I wonder if these visitors could be some kind of cat creatures possibly from a galaxy teaming with alien like vermin? It reminds me of a repetitive dream I’ve often had. Perhaps even prophetic? Bloody typical though! We finally get free of the EU and this happens!

Armchair investigators and keyboard warriors suggesting that these pilots don't know when they are seeing something unusual is really taking the piss.
Chad Underwood destroyed this argument of yours though by claiming his video shows extreme acceleration that defied the laws of physics. His video shows no acceleration at all.

So no, Chad Underwood is either wrong through incompetence, or, I wouldn't rule out that he knows the truth and is lying to serve some patriotic purpose where someone asked him to lie as a service to his country. It's one or the other though.

Those videos show how to analyse Chad Underwood's video and how to understand why Underwood is incorrect.

We don't even hear directly from the pilots in the case of the batman-style balloon, so we can't say if they thought it might be a balloon or not, we are getting all this 2nd and 3rd hand, and again I can't tell if the misunderstandings are from incompetence or from intentional deception. These are intelligence agencies involved, remember what Casey said:

Did CIA Director William Casey really say, "We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false"?

I am the source for this quote, which was indeed said by CIA Director William Casey at an early February 1981 meeting...

This isn’t the photo(s), of course. But I did see a photo of several triangles over oven h2o in groups of 3 hovering in formation. That was a way cool photo of the US TR platform compliment . But the Alienware is even more impressive. More “integrated” for space time. 😙

How fast were the pilots going? Do you think this might have influenced how fast they think the balloon is going?

No matter what claims you make about a balloon, someone will object.

"It was a balloon, it was moving"

"Balloons can't move like that!"

"It was a balloon, it was not moving"

"Balloons can't not move like that!"

Based on these types of replies, apparently some people think no UFO is ever a balloon. The second objection is more surprising since balloons are capable of not moving, or not moving very much.

We haven't even heard directly from the pilots as far as I know, these second or third hand accounts and hopefully everyone remembers the "telephone game" from grade school where re-telling the story garbles the original message.

Plus the intelligence sources always make me think of this:

Did CIA Director William Casey really say, "We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false"?

I am the source for this quote, which was indeed said by CIA Director William Casey at an early February 1981 meeting...

So I take a skeptical view everything coming from intelligence sources (the alleged sources for this story).

on the fence about what this could really be but i gotta say as usual i find the go-to debunk [in this case the batman balloon] a little lacking in analysis... as usual it kinda feels like some people have done exactly the same thing as those who immediately assume it's aliens but in the opposite direction - just grabbed a thing that sort of fits and won't hear another word.

My main beef with Batman here [apart from the obvious like size which we'll be debating for years and never know] is that the object in the shot appears to be a fair bit more structured than the balloon does. Balloons of this type have rounded, pinched edges, they're made from two pieces of material held in shape by the internal pressure of the gas that fills them. This object certainly seems to have structured side panels.
Which doesn't preclude it from being a balloon entirely, or some sort of similar man made paraphernalia, but it's definitely enough to make me feel a litle uneasy about casting it as a kids balloon and moving on, you know?

And by the way, in what world does that even remotely resemble a cube?

That question occurred to me too.

Is it really that surprising some random person posts clickbait? 95% of this place is a "not as advertised" clickbait deal.

Have you seen any questionable content on these forums actually proven real?

The fake cube Wal*Mart grocery bag is actually ATS' integrity floating TF out of dodge.

I don't see what you see.
To me it looks EXACTLY like the batman balloons except for the printed graphics on the balloon, and the low resolution. I have little doubt it's a balloon. Very little doubt. Extremely little doubt. Maybe just a tiny little bit of doubt, to avoid being over-confident in the match, but it's a very good match.

You may be sort of missing the point, which may not have been that clear in the OP but it was mentioned. If gortex found a photo of this balloon and made a thread saying "look at this UFO" then yes that would not be an interesting thread.

But that's not the case here. This story goes back to 2017 when TTSA started talking about some leaked UFO videos and even a decade before that to a leaked Nimitz TicTac video that was posted on ATS. Then years later there's a special task force established to investigate these, which is significant because it's the first officially acknowledged UFO investigation in the US that I know of, since project Blue Book closed decades ago. That alone is a significant story, and this photo is allegedly leaked from materials this new UFO investigation task force is reviewing. I'm not sure that was very clear in the OP.

Remember this from the OP?

For me it looks suspiciously like some sort of balloon but defence officials and the pilots who snapped the object seem to rule that out.

A spaceman came travelling or a party balloon lost in (air)space ... you decide.

The real story here is what is going on with this propaganda campaign, where unnamed "defence officials and the pilots who snapped the object seem to rule" out a balloon when the photo matches a balloon shape extremely well?

Are there really defense officials and pilots who can't tell this is a balloon, or maybe they rule out a balloon for dubious reasons like the photo was taken at 20,000 feet and maybe they think balloons can't go that high? Or, do they really know and or suspect it's a balloon but we are being fed this leaked propaganda from unnamed sources in the intelligence community as some sort of disinformation campaign?

Why are UFOs being investigated now after officially being ignored for decades after project Blue Book closed? And why is this the kind of garbage "allegedly leaking" from the investigation? I'm not big on conspiracies but I do get the sense of a misinformation campaign here when the alleged leaks have defense officials denying the apparent balloon is a balloon. The same source leaks that this UFO was called a "cube" UFO when it looks nothing like a cube. Why? Look for a larger story, than trying to identify this object, then it seems more interesting.
