Ummm... so is the Operating System. I fail to see your point.

It is almost (just?) as easy to modify BIOS and ROM code as it is the OS (which, in the case of Dominion machines, is Windows 10 -shudder...

Details would be nice. Since the word blockchain encompasses a concept, it isn't like saying that XYZ encryption shceme has been cracked.

Not exhaustive, but a good example. Once hailed as unhackable, blockchains are now getting hacked

The overarching purpose should be to a) limit the potential damage, and b) have an audit trail that can reveal what actually happened. And if that audit trail itself is shown to be modified/untrustworthy, then the whole election is invalidated.

It's a good start. We have the technology, we just have to figure out how to use it to our advantage if it's going to be better than what we have with paper and poll watchers. It would be cool to start a thread and gather all the computer savvy members and talk about this in detail, and maybe come up with a workable idea.

Been in the industry since 1985, been a one man I.T. shop (VMWare environment, Windows Domain, local LAN/switches, security devices (currently Watchguard), Desktops, end user support - I do it all.

Thanks. As expected, this is more about the platforms/implementations than anything else.

I think a system could be designed so as to be 99% fraud proof, with safeguards built-in to make it easy to catch people cheating (with severe penalties), and simple remedies whenever fraud is caught.

Yeah, hopefully my off the cuff suggestions were obviously just that. I wouldn't even trust a system that I designed. This would have to be done by experts, the best in their fields, that both professional engineers and common people can trust - but again, trust, but verify.

No one, no system, should ever be based on trust alone.

I have a question. If it truly is the case that these machines have been open to, and interfered with from the start....if I go do a search of four years ago (I haven't and poetically won't, but might) for posts about voting maxing fraud would u find any?

Just interested if all the 'patriots' cared during the last election.

You're right of course. I wouldn't trust a system I would design either. Hopefully, this election will put that process in motion.
