How is this even close to legal?

Public health order.

Department of Health.

Just like grocers/restaurants can be temp closed for failure to be up to health code.
Lmfao, of course you'll advocate this.

Lol, no witty remarks? Just a sunken and sullied quiet post? Speak up down there, what are you whispering??? Ehhh?

Not exactly:

A dozen grocery stores around the state have been forced to close for two weeks because of a public health order issued by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham at a time when the state’s residents are suffering from record high unemployment and food insecurity, critics say.

The order requires businesses with four or more rapid responses of COVID-19 cases reported within in a 14-day period to close for two weeks

Not "grocery stores" but "a dozen grocery stores around the state." How many grocery stores does the state have? I can count a dozen grocery stores within a ten mile radius of my house. I would bet there are several thousand others. Reading comprehension matters.

That is still a significant amount of people potentially losing their jobs and dozens without a business to run for the duration though.

You would be wrong, New Mexico has a population of maybe 2 million. Largest hub is Albuquerque, then Santa Fe. Most towns there don't have large grocery stores.

Hobbs is kinda the exception for it's size, but that's because Texans used to go there and pump up their economy due to it being closer than Lubbock. Also, they sell liquor in most stores there which brings a number of Texans across the border.

Even still, Hobbs has one big Wal-Mart, and a medium sized Albertsons. That's it.

Oh, I forgot about La Tienda... So it has 1 large, and two medium size grocery stores. However, shopping at La Tienda puts you at extreme risk of being shot/stabbed/robbed, and subsequently dying of covid.

As long as people prefer to believe that this virus is soooooooo dangerous, these assholes are going to continue with their illegal overreach.

They are doing this for something that is LESS SERIOUS THAN THE FLU.

They are going to keep doing it until the mass of people who are too lazy to think for themselves get tired of it. I’m angry at stupid people.

One of the poorest states if not The poorest in the Union but She, the governor wants to out do Gretchen?!

Yeah I can see her getting elected again. She’s on the way out no matter what way the country goes. The public doesn’t take too kindly to condescending folks who shut down business, schools, and services to get a position in Biden’s administration on a loosing front.

There is a real virus. And initially lockdowns seemed like a good idea. But its almost a year later, and the western world is still struggling. Lockdowns clearly don't work with the way western society functions.

But as time has gone on, for a coronavirus, and what is happening politically world wide, I can concede to initial thoughts and opinions. We live in interesting times.

Thank you for being honest. I applaud you for waking up! 🍻

The point is, it’s setting a precedent that’s already out of control.

It would seem more productive to give a disclaimer to everyone. That people with pre existing medical conditions, should be aware for two weeks.

That seems more logical than shutting the whole place down.

Naw, you don't quite understand. The only people that vote there are leftist trash. The decent folks that are there really don't care enough to vote, or they are felons. Pretty much a defacto one party state full of haves and have nots.

Not going to change any time soon.

it seems everyone is missing the point, and actual issue here. these grocery stores have been shut down because their employees are infected. and thus the stores and more importantly their employees are all in quarantine for two weeks. just like for example in colleges when a student tests positive all their classmates are also quarantined for two weeks. it's really not about shutting grocery stores down, but about protecting the public from those that could be transmitting the virus.

and the fact is some of the most at risk people, outside of hospital workers are those who serve the public and can come into contact with hundreds of people a day.people such as store employees, especially grocery stores. as well jobs like public transit drivers and delivery drivers. chances are these people are being exposed to many sick people a day. especially at risk because unlike hospital workers they are not really protected, or used to working around infectious diseases. at least in hospitals they have proper PPE, proper masks that offer far better protection, gloves, and of course special suits to wear. everyone else has what, a mask that is not quite up to the same standards and only really protects someone who has it from spreading it, with so many crybabies refusing to wear them at all. maybe some hand sanitizer or alcohol that they can occasionally get to, to use if at all. maybe if a cashier a plastic shield that is sometimes between them and customers.

i know the bakery supply store behind me had to close for a couple weeks after two of their employees got sick. the scary thing is that those two workers were not the workers in the store and dealing with the public. but were the two employees dealing strictly with the grab and other delivery drivers only. which shows the risk of all those home deliveries. where i just bet in many cases those who they deliver to are not wearing a mask which puts them at even higher risk of getting sick.

instead of whining about the inconvenience of grocery stores having to close down because of their employees getting sick. we should be insisting at the very least that all staff are given better masks, and many sets of gloves a day for them to use. and also insist that every customer allowed into stores, or on public transit,or when getting a delivery MUST wear a mask and face shield properly, and be wearing (a new pair) gloves upon entry and at all times until they leave.

So I’m guessing their employees are people? I hear the virus attacks us humans....
Anyway I see your point. And I’ll whine on behalf of whatever I feel like. Tonight’s it’s grocery stores... and yea they should have PPE and be tested....another way is we didn’t shut down the WH when 45 was ill did we? Or college sports? Or etc....

How about this Oh Wise One. It’s an easy fix for someone with a car or means of transport to get to another store across town (maybe) but what if you lack a phone or internet to get your Gurbhub/Door Dash/etc on.

What then? Bc starving is so in Vogue. I’ll shut up now

I fear the response to the pandemic way more than the disease. Been saying that from the first day they started this pandemic in this country.

It is China's fault, if they would have just kept their mouths shut, we would have thought there was a big flu going around this year and next year they would have identified a new flu mutation to blame it on since everyone would be immune, a vaccine would appear to work. If they don't know what to look for, a disease can spread and nobody would know it even existed.

i keep hearing complaining about people out of work, here is a perfect business opportunity for them. people can do as people in other countries did. someone who has their own transportation can go buy food, then take it around areas where the grocery store has needed to temporarily shut down, and sell that food to those who need it. some even went as far as buying food directly from the farmers, transported it or arranged transport for it. then went around in their vehicles, or even hand carts to sell it door to door in areas that had issues with people being able to go to a store (because there was no public transportation allowed to operate at all). and of course that was on top of the (free), food that the government was delivering to everybody during the lockdown. there are ways to deal with such things. it just takes people to think, and do, instead of just complaining about it.

Yeah. I start my pandemic/lockdown/I’m starving winter garden about now too....

Sounds like you want to be a CEO?

Also what you’re talking about takes weeks if not months to implement if it all went to chit.

These stores be closed now.

Also sounds like you’d be spreading Covid with your idea

But I guess I’m just complaining. Not thinking out loud

Edit: I’m complaining about grocery stores per se and the immediate impact of not being able to get food before Thanksgiving and all.....not people unemployed FYI

You didn’t even address the internet to order ya know? Or how someone is supposed to get info/contact about said hypothetical socialist “I remember ice cream” 2021 America. Grub hub. Door dash. Or do they all wait until you figure this all out. As you clearly have.

I work in hospitals.

These are the facts.

If a person, any person, goes to the hospital for anything, from apendicitus, to a broken hip, to a car wreck. . . they are tested for Covid.

If they are Covid positive, then they are no longer a broken hip patient, a car wreck patient, they are a Covid patient.

Vent usage is actually down or at normal levels.

I know this because I get census reports for the state of Oregon.

I believe you 100%, so you are saying the hospitalized totals are likely even less? I can see that happening

Georgia has 2298 hospitalized now
408,644 cases grand total I'm beginning to believe the estimate 10 times that any may be short and it likes likely 15 to 18 times that of people that actually have had it already.

ergo, when the vaccine comes out people will be getting a vaccine for something they already have had.

actually it took a couple to a few days to implement. all sorts of online grocery set ups all popped up on the net. some by actual stores for ordering and delivery, others by individuals (in fact home bakeries selling over the net has become a huge thing ever since). these had their own websites pop up, on facebook, twitter, even on sites like amazon. also people going around selling fresh meats, fish, eggs, veggies etc were, even those going around taking orders for those things, were going around almost immediately.

as for spreading covid, not any more, and likely less chance than shopping in a store.
