Do we still get the days off ?

Christmas has just become a consumerist glut fest , it has little to do with its original meaning so I'd just celebrate and look forward to a better New Year.

I would still eat , drink and be merry.

Well my point is, we shouldn't have to modify our behavior or how we celebrate if the left is going to go about the business of celebrating super spreader Joe.. If you dont like it, dont partake.

Then again if the left doesn't like it, it must be racist and it must be banned..

ETA: My family and I spend a lot of time together during the holidays. We have fellowship with extended family as well as friends. Maybe the people who think its a consumerist glut fest have no family or friends to speak of or they were raised without morals or love? Maybe they feel its consumer driven because they have never really had any type of close relationship with anyone, let alone Jesus.

The Governor of California, Governor Newsom pedo or whatever is demanding everyone wear a mask between bites of food during Thanksgiving. You left wingers let him right into your home and you celebrate that? More power to ya!

Someone said something , it won't change the fact that we will be eating Christmas dinner on the 25th.
You are getting yourself worked up over nothing.

You know what is amazing,

Christmas shouldn't be canceled, but the change is probably more of the true Christmas spirit.

Let's face it Christmas is too commercialized. Maybe a small gathering at home is exactly the way
we should celebrate it.

No.

People can celebrate it however they want, even if it's just an excuse to max a credit card. We don't, and we limit gifts from one person to another to a maximum of 3, and always have. Tailor it/work to suit your family the way you want it to be, and leave others be.

That includes shutting TF up about who gathers where & why. It's NOT YOUR CALL, KAREN.

My 6 year old nephew lives in London and watched the Boris Johnson speech about how Christmas will not be the same and how everything is on lock down. His grandfather (my side) died last year and not he can’t come see his grandma who lives alone. The little chap broke down in tears and was as sad as a tough little boy could be

If Grandma lives alone, then why in the blue hell isn't her family visiting her? Nobody sees nothin, nobody says nothin, you know?

Seriously folks, live your damn lives and always be prepared to tell the Man to kiss your ass when needed.

WHOA let me stop you right there and now. I am not a left wing anything. I am like many Americans an Independent voter and not that it matters registered and voted Libertarian (you know the people who think for themselves).

Libertarian my ass, one of our party's cornerstone ethics is to go balls to the wall on protecting & supporting individual autonomy. Since your post history seems to not align with that, you probably don't know that refers to those unnecessary things like freedom of movement, thought and choice. You REALLY suck at upholding that, or are donning some crappy clothes there, Mr. Wolf. Nice try.

Actually it looks like he's calling for the parties to be cancelled, not the holiday.

Lenglet said there was a risk that Christmas and New Year's Eve parties - known in France as "Saint-Sylvestre" - could end up as a "giant, intergenerational cluster that could be at the origins of a potential new third wave" of COVID-19.

Seems to me that not having large multi-generational parties is just common sense and has nothing to do with politics. We can all celebrate Christmas without the large gatherings. Who would want to put their own family and friends at risk?

Ket said "Sure we'll have a turkey here in the home. We always do, but we won't have family", and it kinda hit me like a slap to the face. Granted, we don't do any holiday gatherings at all (spread too far around the country now) and on a family level, we don't bother with Get Fatter Day anyway, but that family aspect is something that is going to cut deep for many, especially kids who's only chance to see extended family is a holiday like Thanksgiving. They already took Easter from them, and are working on Food Day, Christmas is also in the crosshairs.

It just isn't right, morally or ethically, to demand people cut themselves off from family like this. I'm so sick and tired of people bitching and moaning that if you do gather, you're risking XYZ relative's health, blah, blah, etc. At-Risk XYZ relative or whoever can choose to attend or not, there's zero grounds to pressure people into cancellations when that option is available to use.

We really are being groomed to think a free choice is the devil, here. This year started out with me rolling my eyes at people who said that, but their claims have panned out -- "Comply, or we'll make you regret it" is a supported tactic to use now. It's sick in the head.

The Grinch attempted that, but all the Whos in Whoville joined together and celebrated any who.
I will be identifying as a Who.
