Looking at all the information been spread out there by Philip, I suspect this might not have a happy ending.

It is filled to capacity with charlatan's. Do you honestly believe anyone really cares. These folks are more than happy with Nick regardless of his alleged sins. We have a former policeman and the other busts frauds according to his claims.

I doubt anyone will drop Nick any time soon for obvious reasons. They ride on one another like wild horses.🙄.

Looks like Philip Mantle , David Clarke and company have given up on going after Nick Pope so I see. Didn't last long the latest bashing episode. I suspect Philip needed to go back to publishing more slop for the gullible , whilst Nick goes free to continue doing what he does. Sigh.

Update , though I think the Nick Pope fiasco led by Philip and co is now well dead. It was amusing to note Nick Pope now advertising himself and Philip in the latest bundle of UFO treats. I guess the old $$$$ made more sense.

Most of these folk don't want to solve UFO cases. They just want them left there as is, to speculate and ponder over the mystery. Let's face it their careers are over if they ever did.solve the mystery.

With no copyright attached to these stories then it provides almost endless material for books, blogs, podcasts and TV shows. Commercial ufology in America is just an entertainment LARP..

I find the whole situation with them deplorable. Months of slagging off Pope by Philip , then the two team up like two twins in the latest load of nonsense. Their careers indeed would be over if there was ever any end to all this. That's one old photo.

And the gravy train just keeps on chugging along. No wonder it's called Alien Con!!

This this story won't go away because Nick Pope will not address the actual facts as it keeps getting his name out there. The people who write for tabloids [in this case Simon Houston - I'd say he has a problem!] are too lazy to research the answers.

Let's put this article straight even if Nick Pope refuses to acknowledge them!!

The so-called Calvine Photo was described by former MoD official and flying saucer expert Nick Pope as one of the "most compelling" pieces of UFO evidence he has ever seen....

Pope has read the top-secret file attached to the sighting, which tells of two hikers who were out walking in the countryside near Calvine, which sits on the A9 close to Blair Atholl.

There is no 'top secret' file. The files were released years ago and are linked to in the opening post. Anybody can read them.

...Recalling from the file, he added: "Suddenly, they’d seen a massive UFO hanging in the sky above their heads, silent, motionless and menacing. Awestruck, they shot off six photographs before the object accelerated away at immense speed – vertically!"....

The original file describes the object, but does not describe it accelerating away at immense speed.

Here are the details once again from the files.

... he explained why the amazing image never made its way into the public domain. Pope said: "The shell-shocked witnesses sent the photos to a Scottish newspaper and a journalist contacted the MoD press office, looking for a comment. "Somehow - perhaps using a D-Notice or perhaps using some real-life Men In Black trickery - someone at the MoD managed to extract all the photos and the negatives from the newspaper, who never got them back."

The files were returned to the Daily Record newspaper. If they claimed they didn't receive them then that's a different matter.

....As noted on our catalogue, the full contents of DEFE 24/1940 are closed until 01 January 2076. A redacted version of the file is open and available to download from our catalogue here. There are three folios within this file that relate to the incident in question (pages 35-37 of part 2). There are no photographs contained in the file. The file itself states that the original negatives were returned to the Scottish Daily Record.....

...A redacted version of the file has been released, including just a blurred photocopied image. A 30-year rule meant it was due to be declassified on January 1 this year — but the Ministry of Defence has now blocked release until 2072 without explanation....

The Ministry of Defence has clearly explained that the only details redacted are the personal details of the photographer.

We understand this query to relate to file DEFE 24/1940,...

...the only closed information within this file is personal information exempt under s40(2) of the FOI Act. The remainder of the file is open and available to download....
