Yikes!!!! Sounds like (if you were akin to Kevin Spacey’s character, which clearly you are not) an “American Beauty” situation.

Just an aside, but aren't ALL chaps "assless"?

Nope, only the skinny white guys are.

Whatever he was wearing, I just recall he wasn't wearing anything under them so that his butt cheeks were hanging out bare in the back.

The '90s?! I grew up in the '80s. David Lee Roth flaunting his assless chaps seems so ... tame compared to today.

Hahahahaha, I have a pair of “DLR Jeans”, they ripped one day at work so I took them home and cut all the legs so the legs are just strips attached at the waist. I used to get hammered and reenact the “Jump” video with them while going commando.

Technically, I grew up in the 80’s too, but I was born in ‘82, so I was more of my own person in the 90’s.

But you’re right. All that excess in the 80’s with the hair bands, or even with bands like Ozzy and Judas Priest/the whole PRMC BS with Tipper Gore, they felt they had to sticker albums back then to warn parents about the lyrical content, meanwhile today, Cardi B can release “WAP” and it’s supposedly about “women’s empowerment”.

Which really isn’t too far off from what we’re discussing in this thread. That “WAP” song was defended to hell and back and Ben Shapiro got so much sh*t over his criticism of it, and while I think it’s hilarious as an adult, my first thought when discussing it with my wife was, “Dude, this is a huge song and it’s not just adults listening to this.” I’d assume the majority of Cardi B’s fans are in their teens and early 20’s, definitely a large part of that fan base should NOT be singing about making sure “your pull-out game is weak”.

I’m not at the point where I’d say there’s intentional indoctrination going on, but I’m not far from it. The same pervs who would watch Cuties are the same ones who would be scouring YouTube for videos of kids singing along to that song.

As a libertarian and a musician, it makes me sick to my stomach that I’d even consider some form of censorship, but there’s a legit danger to impressionable minds hearing a song like that and seeing the videos most often associated with that kind of music, which is exactly where they got the twerking and grinding from.

I’ll gladly sit on my throne of metal music where we write lyrics about overcoming setbacks in life or being pissed off with the system with music videos filled with a bunch of long haired dudes headbanging in all black clothes.

Somewhere along the line parents stopped being parents and become friends and that's where the trouble started. It really is OK to say no and set boundaries on stuff for your kids until they're older.

Don't excuse your lack of resolve by saying, "Oh, their friends are doing it ..."

Netflix is a company - how about indicting the people who made the film and the people at Netflix who signed off on airing it?

I thought I had heard some crazy stuff come out of the mouths of my young patients that think the streets are ghetto fabulous, but that "WAP" song has made me rethink, and hardened my stance on why I believe parents need to pull the plug on their children's unsupervised cell phone and internet usage.

There is no excuse what so ever for that kind of filth to be allowed to be produced and sold, let alone to children. I couldn't get past 27 seconds into the song, and I can tell you from experience, that young people are easily influenced by this kind of thing. I won't call it music. Artistic expression? Not even on the same planet as art.

I know why they produce it, why they get away with it, is because people buy it. You will always have the seedy underbelly of the world among us, it is when we allow the filth of the sewers to flow into our homes, we consume it, and call it acceptable, that we have truly died as a society.

It doesn't help when a certain party lends legitimacy to this type of thing by having their presidential candidate "interviewed" by her. Hell, Cardi might even get her own daytime show where she can be the millennial Martha Stewart handing out sage advice and tips like this- WARNING this is off the charts offensive

I watched it. That's how I work. If it's controversial, I'm going to watch it. Some of the zoom moments were uncalled for, and uncomfortable, but it's nowhere near child pornography. Go to a local children's dance event. All 3 of my daughters were in ballet, but all of the dance groups do the shows together. This is how they dance. The zoomed moments were MEANT to make you feel uncomfortable, and the audience was disgusted in the movie. That was the whole point.

If this movie didn't come out during the save our children hashtag, and the height of "Q" ridiculousness, nobody would've batted an eye. Actually, hardly anyone would of even heard about it or watched it. Instead, you all put it in America's top 10 movies for a couple of weeks.

Sorry. If it is anything like what I listened to before, I will pass.

This has nothing to do with the Presidency, or who is holding political office. This is strictly up to the individual. You choose what you allow in your house and what you allow your children to listen to.

I have had this battle too many times with too many parents, that feel that the only way to have peace in their homes is to allow their children to run roughshod over them, and the world turns by them keeping them happy.

Even when they end up needing my services, parents still keep their heads buried in the sand. I don't expect children to know better, but there is no excuse for the parents.

I don't want politicians or a President telling me what to eat, think, or how to raise my children, and I am not telling anyone else how to raise theirs, but when the child ends up being my patient due to poor judgment of the parent, and poorly disciplined children, don't act surprised, or want to blame everyone else, while excluding yourself.

Exactly!

How did my kid become a selfish little monster?

It's because you forgot one word: NO. Use no early and often and make sure when you offer choices, they are always with options you can live with, but make sure you offer those choices frequently.

My point was that we don't need any influential people (or potential heads of state) bringing this kind of thing more into the mainstream. Proper parenting is of course the bottom line - we've got three and they turned out fine (exceptional if you ask me).

The really sad thing about all of it from child exploitation, to human trafficking is that none of this new.

From before Biblical times there were societies built around sexual deviance. There were guilds and groups of the wealthy that held Bacchanal festivities. Deviant entertainment was the foundation of Dionysia.

This evil has been with us through the ages and we can't seem to eliminate it. I can only hope that we will one day evolve past this.

Sex is a very powerful force, and when you see all the nastiness and evil it causes in the world and all the bad fallout from it, is it any wonder that religions attempt to put some reigns on it?

I know ... that's prudishness, but it seems to me that sometimes, a little caution and respect is warranted.

A testament to how weak we really are. If we cannot control the desire for an act that is over in just a few minutes.

Worse is that we claim to be so strong and in control, yet we cannot control our base nature, and actually think that our lack of control is a valid excuse.

These days they don't even try. They say that it's all normal and natural, just like nature. Of course, cannibalism and infanticide, and lots of other taboo things are also normal and natural in nature too.

They forget that just because you find something in nature doesn't mean that it's a morally correct thing to do.

As for saying that the movie should get a pass because some dance competition received a pass is a strawman. First of all, a dance competition isn't published on a global platform around an alleged "message" about child exploitation.

I see, the 'message' matters. Then you should be even more upset then by the TV shows as it's kids prancing around for the sake of exposure, nothing else.

Once again, there are no degrees in exploitation.

Yes, intent and context matter. You could see a movie with a child in a bikini which has no sexual innuendo in it even though the child may be showing more "skin" than these girls. That would be completely harmless and no one would be calling for an indictment.
