Where did the Left go?

I've been on this site since 2005. I like that the majority here can think outside the box. I liked that no matter what your political beliefs were, we all had something in common. Conspiracy theories.

Sure, politics has always been apart of this site. You can argue, debate about anything here.


Now what I can remember from visiting this site in 2005, as most of us would question the current administration's initiative and goals. I remember the majority of us here did not like GW. I remember the majority here liked Obama for a while.

Then the Left left. I dont see any lefties here defending very much. I dont see them jumping to defend Biden and his bizzaro actions.

Is ATS just a little bit smarter than other groups where we, as a whole, can see for ourselves what is right and wrong? We can hate or support both parties when we see fit?

I feel like the majority of people here can see through BS.

TBH it's impossible to defend what you listed, because there is no defense. Add to that that the left will not, cannot and does not discuss anything but rather wants anything they don't like to be banned, censored or deleted, what did you expect?
They are either throwing out insults [trumpetts, idots etc] or they ask for bannings; if that doesn't happen, they cheese it.

There is your answer. They are actually on the wrong side of history and that is a hard position to defend.

They grew up.

Leftists are usually young.

Then you get educated and either learn politics is a sham you can't control or you lean to the right.

They have steady taken L's the past four years.

Should have been here during the impeachment farce or the bogus Russia collusion and Mueller report nonsense. Or that stupid caravan that was supposed to just waltz into the country because reasons.

Most of these posters never had any reason other than "orange man bad". Always emotional and supposing the contrary even to the most absurd extent. You can make a leftist call for war if Trump opposes it these days lmao.

Not to mention being plain wrong about everything, some posters would rightly have to own up and eat some crow. Same with the "we all gonna die wait two weeks" covid fan club.

The credibility is just destroyed.

Someone who was arguing vehemently againt Brexit last year suddenly stopped posting when Boris Johnson won his election.
By analogy, I suspect that many of the American left disappeared after the 2016 election, not caring to face their opponents after electoral defeat. They do come back from time to time to complain that ATS has become a right-wing echo chamber (a situation caused by their own absence), and offer that as a reason for going away again.

Participation as a whole has dropped sharply on ATS in every area except QAnon and Pro-Trump threads or Anti Democratic threads.

People are divided on the internet, everyone wants an echo chamber. This is basically a MAGA echo chamber, and "leftists" have found their own.

The rest of us are just checking in for when someone posts a UFO that's actually a moon, or hoping one of the weirdos like "cloud guy" or "planning on eating hard tack for a year to save money" guy comes back to make some funny threads.

There are a few leftest on ATS but not many , Me personally I used to lean Left but the older I've gotten the more I realized that the policies of the Left are unsustainable .

Even the hardcore Lefty people on ATS have a hard time defending the Democrats .

we the leftists are still here, we are everywhere. if you want to meet us in real life, you have to go outside. we are the ones on the streets, in the stores, in the parks. the leaves become brown. autumn is coming.

Nope. ATS has fallen victim to the same online mob mentality that happens anywhere that believes and defends this administrations lies and unethical behavior. It’s a cult of personality that eventually forces out anyone who refuses to toe the line. Not through a victory in logic or anything like that, but because no one is interested in actual debate. Every argument is in bad faith. It’s about a victory, not about figuring out the truth. And no one in their right mind is going to waste their time arguing with someone like that.

And plus, ATS is a conspiracy site. Which is why it’s a place for right wingers to wail about what they think Democrats are up to. Donald Trumps corruption isn’t a conspiracy. It’s been widely and well known for almost 30 years. It’s reality. So this isn’t really the place for that.

That's where your wrong I have met very few Leftist in public ...well atleast I have met very few on there own.

Most of the time there in a Group echoing each other , or on television , or on a stage speaking.

You see a leftist is afraid to be caught on there own lest they have to discuss there beliefs with out a crowd of people behind them screaming support. I would love to meet you in public for coffee and discuss politics with you and watch your argument crumble.

I was considered ‘left-leaning’ when I was I was younger. I haven’t changed...the goal posts moved.

People probably just don't talk about politics much in real life, because... you know... real life is happening.

Some got triggered and espoused extremists views and got themselves banned. Some realized that this wasn't their preferred echo chamber. Some got left behind and the rest just bailed.

What I mean is a Leftist typically will not openly discuss or debate there beliefs if there alone with no one to back them up , this is because leftist ideals are not based in fact or logic .

Meaning if a Leftist does not have people behind them saying YEA! your RACIST! Thats OFFENSIVE then there ideals seem hollow and devoid of merit.

Leftist Ideals are based in feelings , perceptions and honestly I'm not sure ...
