That song was from the 60's. We know it is a desert and that the Mtns are timber boxes waiting to explode. Not doing prescribed burns in order to "preserve nature", in fact can destroy it thanks to the least mistake by a human. Or by those people who don't mind if others die when they start one on their own terms for "fun" or "terror".


The west coast has wet areas but even they experience dry times. Same for the wet Appalachian Mtns.

Salton sea formed when there was a disaster rerouting the Colorado River away from it's trip to the Ocean. They did that for Cali to get a sip and a big hole formed and before the engineers could shut it down it formed an inland sea in the lowlands reasonably near the real deep desert we call Death Valley too. Maybe not super close but it is close if you consider Las Vegas close to that same area.

The Salton Sea is mildly interesting. Used to be quite a resort (1950s or so) until the water got too salty, and then it turned into a death trap for animals and other life. There are abandoned motels, trailer parks, etc. there from what I recall seeing in a publication.

Not sure that's a positive October surprise though no pun intended.

2% of Americans have tested positive for COVID. Trump is traveling all over the country. No surprise.

If Trump goes comms silent then I will think it’s a cover for something. If he’s tweeting like normal, nothing burger.

I think Trump is likely a bit more lackadaisical about the prevention protocols than you might think because of your last line -- It's real. It's contagious. It just isn't a cold-blooded killer.

That's been obvious from the start. If it was really as dangerous as they wanted us all to believe, none of them would be in evidence anywhere for any reason, not one, and yet they all are. That goes to show you how really "concerned" they are.

Must be. Pelosi only enters the picture if both the president and VP are dead or incapacitated. So, including her is very premature.

Plus, sick =/= incapacitated. Right now, Trump's doctor says he can still fulfill all his duties.

I have a co-worker that lost his father (the father being a former co-worker) to COVID in March. He traveled in a closed pickup truck with him the day before he was hospitalized. He didn't contract the virus, the guy's wife slept with him, she didn't contract the virus.
