Yeah that question was brought up years ago. It was extremely confusing, and I don't think anyone figured it out. Does anyone even know what the algorithm is that makes the points?

You’ll lose your Gold Contributing Member status if your Karma was zeroed out. And your account is too new for the star hack to work, to get that Gold back...

WATS is a measure of overall contribution while Karma shows your potential for overall contribution if you were to author more threads versus just great (lots of stars) replies.


However it should be noted that is not what WATS was originally. Originally it was just the best thread of the month as voted by the members and staff. You had a banner/patch on your avatar that linked to the thread to pimp out your bad-self.

Best I can do to remove them is recommend a hard ban of the account....it would work, but not exactly the way you are asking. Other than that....lock the thread maybe. I really don’t have a lot of pull around here. Pretty sure that is by design too, because I do things no one else wants to do like dredge the sledge which makes mucking stalls seem glamorous.

I always thought Karma is one of those things people use as an excuse to justify why things happen and give then the illusion that they have some kind of understanding of how the world works.
