Quite a few minor bank branches and ATMs have closed here in the UK.
It's a direct result of the increase in internet banking and shopping and payments using contactless and debit cards etc.

I've been saying for years that we are heading towards a cashless society.....and that's a nightmare for me as my income is cash only.

Big Brother or just a sign of the times with people seeking the most convenient and easy methods for everything thus freeing themselves up to watch bollocks on social media, do their nails and eyebrows and other ultra-important things?

I suspect it's a mixture of both.

I believe you missed my point.

But what do I know? I don't have a good trip on reality!

I don’t know dude, do ya think?

I mean, your original comment was so rational and based on reality that it just seems odd that I would have missed your entire point altogether.

Well, in that case, for your benefit, I'll try and use simple language and include definitions.

The lockdowns, especially to the extent of what is happening in Victoria, are tyranical in nature.

The right to bear arms can prevent this tyranny.

I did not say anything about bearing arms against someone telling you to wear a mask. You came up with that notion all on your own. Who is it that lacks a grounding in reality again?

EDIT TO ADD:

I'm on the PC now rather than mobile, and I noticed your tagline stating, "when injustice becomes law resistance becomes duty."

I think it's time you remove that.

The mask is where it started: the chink in the armor that lead to the further erosion of civil liberties. The examples presented in the opening post should suffice. I'll prune it down to them for you, since you seem to have missed them.

...here in Victoria, we are now into a second round of enforced shutdown, as well as curfews, we cannot leave the house after 8pm, except i you are an essential worker...[/url]

Restrictions to the freedom of movement.

I was reading on my phone, when these 3 protective service officers (sort of cops though with less powers, though they can arrest) were eyeing me off, and I head one of them on their mobile, running a rego check on my car. I was a bit pissed off by this as I did nothing wrong.

No due process.

I did not confront them as I know how these guys work as I used to work on the buses, and on really quiet nights they would blatantly antagonize someone who is an easy target just to get them to arc up and then they use this as an entry to arrest, and slap unwarranted charges just to get a stat, and some entertainment. They really are evil.

Fear of the state goons. Abuses of power.

My wife is on a running group on facebook, and one of her friends were stopped by the po-lice asking what is she up-to and where is she going, she said for a run. The police asked for i.d, which she did not have, so the po-lice demanded and accessed her garmin gps watch to track her route to see if she was within 5 kilometres of home.

No due process. Invasions of privacy. Unwarranted search and seizure.

I hope that helps clear up some of your questions.

So in your mind, I have no right to care about injustice, unless I go on a shooting rampage, because I'm being told to wear a mask and stay at home unless its essential?

Yeah, that sounds like a totally rational position to take.

Again using your firm grounding in reality to ignore the actual substance of my previous post. Job well done. Have a medal for your studious contribution!

Vic Premier moves to extend state of emergency capabilities indefinitely

Premier Daniel Andrews is working with the state’s solicitor-general to introduce new legislation and amendments to allow authorities to extend the state of emergency for as long as necessary.

The chief medical officer was granted emergency powers for an additional four weeks, until September 13, pushing it to the six-month legal limit.

The move comes as Victoria continues to see a downward trend in the number of new infections, with 279 new cases confirmed on Sunday while the total active caseload dropped by more than 200.

Concerns have also mounted over specialist housing facilities such as Hambleton House in Albert Park, which was designed for people with mental health issues, which saw the number of infections grow from one to 14 over the course of last week.

Security around the facility was increased after residents instructed to self-isolate were spotted outside shopping at the weekend. All residents were expected to be evacuated from the house by the end of the day.

Man is arrested for not wearing a mask in Victoria, Australia

Kinda says it all. With one of the officers is not wearing his mask just shows the stupidity of it all, just one big control game.

I really have to thank George Orwell for a view of what I see as a reality, Newspeak, the stupid non sensical slogans used by the dictator such as
"keeping apart keeps us together", "Were all in this together" These slogans to me mean the opposite.

I disagree with most of what you said.
I'm a Brisbanite so we have avoided most of it... For now.

But what you said and I just quoted was profound.

A police officer chokes a woman before arresting her for not wearing a mask in Melbourne, Australia

This is another arrest in Melbourne for not wearing a mask. At least the officer did not kneel on her neck I guess?

She was a meth head who kicked a cop.
She's lucky she wasn't shot.

Chris Scott is a hero who has to put up with scum.

From that video my only question is why did she mention her age as important? And how old was the boyfriend filming but not stepping in?

That meth addled skank will OD soon. And the world will be a better place for it.

What the heck has happened to Australia. I just had to put this National archive film in , if any one can say that what we have now is progress, compared to life in Melbourne in the fifties They would have to be deluded.

The answer is meth.

The previous video shows a person far too awake for that time in the morning. The video that you showed is far more alien.

We can't look to Buddy Holly for the answers of today.

The good news is in a few weeks when the curfew is lifted the numbers will go up and the curfew will be back and around and around you go until everyone has had it.

Then you'll need to have a vaccine shot and proof on your phone to go out.

Why?
What is the purpose?

And just to let you know; we in the UK don't want guns everywhere.
Keep your's, that's entirely up to you......but we neither need nor want them.

Now please explain to me how having a gun has any relevance here other than being able to pull yourself stupid over it at home during lockdown?

Thanks for your reply, though I guess its hard to really appreciate what we are facing in Victoria until you are in this circumstance.

I dont have a link as yet the story on seven news right now, Victoria police are implementing high powered drones, with high powered cameras to monitor motor vehicles that may be too far from home. Most likely it will feature number plate recognition cameras, and facial recognition.

The report stated that after the pandemic, the police have not stated a sunset clause on the use of this technology, so mkre than likely its another tool in the police states arsenal.

So I guess the first you will know js when you receive your breach fine in the post.

One thing most people have forgotten is government by the people for the people.

Maybe I am an idealist though now the attitude of pollies is whats in it for me.

I remember back in the days when people would take a stand now unfortunately we just take it.
