So if shooterbrody has almost 9 million stars, and you only have 69.000, that doesn't mean shooterbrody is a god and you're a mere mortal?

Seriously though, sometimes flags and stars point to good threads but at least as often they point to really bad threads, some of the worst threads I've read are some with the most flags and stars. They mean there's interest in the topic, but they don't tell us whether the topic is gold or trash.

ATS is a 100% member-content driven site.
Flags and Stars come from adding content to ATS...and those with the most of each...have been contributing the most to keeping ATS going and growing over the years.

THIS is why I laugh when some members criticize other members for having so many Flags and Stars.

They're insulting the very members that have dedicated years of their time and efforts to ATS...keeping it alive, current and vibrant for so long.

Is this a variation on down-voting content and contribution? Because down-voting individual efforts really isn’t ATS’s style.

We became popular because we stressed decorum and researched threads. It worked by peer pressure in the form of quality threads had more participation than less quality threads. Changing demographics over the decades changed that somewhat but if you look at the thread remembering great threads what do you see? Researched threads with cohesively thought out replies.

Flavor of the day threads written for the lowest base common denominator (such as which political candidate farted the loudest on air) don’t do as well in comparison. Never did. And no down-voting required. But those threads need their space, thus The Political Mudpit.

no, just maybe an annual thread competition where the winner gets a special "ATS capture the flag winner" badge or something.
