Just saw this thread from OtherSideOfTheCoin titled ATS is Dead which is a very harsh analysis of the situation. The thread was closed for site bashing and I can see why, but I didn't get a chance to respond so I'm going to do it here since OtherSideOfTheCoin is following this thread.

Unfortunately I agree with the arguments that a paid membership system wont work, and a website like ATS doesn't look very attractive to buyers because what we talk about here triggers nearly every censorship system ever made. Society is being convinced that the type of free speech we have on ATS is a very dangerous thing.

We are becoming increasingly paranoid about bots and fake news controlling what people think, so social media platforms are being forced to roll out increasingly draconian censorship algorithms and demonetizing anyone and everyone who isn't completely family friendly, especially opinions they disagree with.

Having said that I think there are definitely people out there who would be willing to invest in ATS, modernize it, update the software, overhaul the advertising strategy, etc. There's definitely enough members on ATS to make a profit if done correctly. I'm betting 90% of us would unblock ads to save ATS.

I think the primary thing people want is security and peace of mind, because we've seen cases of dodgy ads in the past. Admittedly I'm guilty of blocking ads on most sites and it's primarily for security reasons. Even if we solve the problem of people blocking ads, there's still the problem of getting ads if Google wont provide them.

Truth is it’s not really anyone’s fault, ATS is just a dinosaur that has yet to move with the progressive times, it’s a site that isn’t just technologically behind the times but culturally.

Well I'm so sorry that ATS isn't a progressive woke paradise, I guess anyone who doesn't share your political beliefs should be exiled from modern society. The truth is there's actually quite a large number of progressives on ATS otherwise we wouldn't have such vigorous and heated debates about politics so often.

You say on the 2nd page of the thread that ATS has "gone from being predominantly anti-government to pro-government", but we were never anti-government, we were question-government and question-authority, because that's the type of people that conspiracy topics naturally draw in, but yes there is a healthy dose of anarchistic people too.

The reason many people now show strong support for the government is because for the first time since they remember there is a guy in power who isn't a mainstream politician, a guy who will carry out the will of the people. You may strongly disagree with that view but we all have a right to form our own beliefs based on our understanding of the world.

I would also argue that a great deal of Trump supporters are still very much anti-authority, we dislike self-proclaimed authority figures such as the MSM and most mainstream politicians. We gravitate more towards the underdogs who question mainstream authority, which is why Dems like Tulsi Gabbard are surprisingly popular on the right.

Conservatives are much more opposed to big government than people on the left, they're more opposed to laws which control how they live, they're more opposed to strict lockdown laws which prevent people working, which is also relevant here because Covid-19 was cited as one of the reasons ATS took such a hard hit.

Find a new echo chamber.

It’s quite frankly sad to see how many of you seem to be reliant on this site for some kind of cyber self-esteem boost

I'm absolutely certain it has far more to do with friendships and the community we have formed since almost the very start of the internet. It's about having a place to share our feelings and opinions without instantly being censored for wrong-think. If we wanted a self-esteem boost we'd use a platform where more than a few dozen people will read our ramblings.

But don't worry that will happen if ATS dies, many members here will move onto using more popular forms of social media to share their opinions and that will influence more people. That's certainly what I plan to do, I put a quite a bit of work into my writings here even knowing barely anyone sees them, if ATS dies I may as well switch to something more popular.

Do you work for google ? Don’t be naive. It’s free speech that these giant corporations don’t like . Especially a free speech site such as this . The last thing the owners of our planet want is for people to start getting together and talking about how bad we’re getting screwed over by the government, corporations, banks , irs, big pharma , the war machine , big oil , . They want us to fight each other and they done want us talking about how we’re getting screwed over by them . That’ll be tougher for them to continue their objective of complete control . It’s very simple for me to see and without a place like this they’ll have a lot easier time of implementing it

SEO algorithms are constantly changing, hence why there are several companies selling SEO as a service.

Google, very publicly btw, rolled out an update.
Several business have watched their rankings plummet.
Why? Engagement. Due to covid, who's traveling now? Who's attending concerts? Not surprisingly, a lot of those sites have started to plummet.

Also, you're presenting an incomplete picture and those that think this is "magic" or that someone is sitting somewhere pulling levers may think you're being targeted.

Are you aware that not having a ssl cert hurts your rankings?

Whats the average time on site for organic traffic?

What percentage of your entry simply point to a competitor like Twitter?

You don't have a site map do you?


Of the pages un indexed, how many have had any relevant hits over the past 6 months?

As someone who I assume has been actively involved with the development of this site, you should know that EVERYBODY is dealing with seo changes and I can't know why you would present this in the manner that you did.

As if you're being targeted because "free speech". You know thats not the case, so why do it?

Use https://__._/wiki/Alternative_DNS for independent DNS servers.

Edit: of course the leaks of wiki are still blocked. Well just use your fav search engine to find them.

I don't think it has anything to do with conspiracy theorist suddenly like an authority figure being popular amongst them. I think it has to do with the change in demographic of conspiracy theorists when it changed from an obscure niche community into a public "see me question this on social media" community. Which if you ask me is deliberately done to effectively shut up the movement.

I think most is discussed in private groups nowadays.

They will destroy all the serious conspiracy forums, even though unfortunately ATS's brand has been besmirched by Trump politics, it was still one of the serious sites with a brand.

The political problem is in fact one of the ways to destroy it and it has worked like a charm.

But yes, indeed, google and the other major platforms have been ordered or enlisted to do away with serious conspiracy memes and to allow the foolish like qanon to exist.

When they label conspiracy as ridiculous and right-wing paranoia, they have won.

Quite a few have messaged me with similar interest in that thread I have pm'd the mods asking if it can be reopened with staff keeping a close eye on it.

I don't think though its entirely fair to start hijacking this thread with another thats been shut by the mods as much as I would love to engage in more active discussion around it.

I come here to enlighten myself with the opinions of the few that although might have an opposing view as mine still have valid points in their views which I can use for myself for a better understanding and growth in my world view.

Twitter and YouTube lack discussions. But if you read between the repetative posts and threads there are valuable contributions.

Those I seek, as an old school conspiracy theorist I learned the most from discussing with my personal opposition or by attacking / questioning the ones that agreed with me. Yes I say attacking as they should feel threatened and because of that build solid arguments to disprove my attack.

Mud throwing and simply blaming the other side is not part of that.

But let's stick to the thread topic.
