Leo's figured out how to get the freezer door open
Perhaps you should enroll him in a class for "Savant Kitties"
Lol, he's smart, but not a savant animal. They're very observant and will try to replicate what you do sometimes. Like opening cupboard doors to get
in there (it's an ongoing war between the cats & the dumb hairless monkeys) or the freezer (I really can't blame him, though)
The bird just doesn't care,
When did you get birds? What did I miss? Who? What
Not a new addition, hubs hatched him from an egg over 20 years ago, though we did give him to my late grandmother for feathered company after her
Conure died, she had him (our bird) for 6 or 7 years. When she died, it was natural to just readjust back to having him around, he remembered us very
easily anyway.
They (cockatiels) can live until around 30 if they have a well-balanced diet and get regular exercise/flying time in. Hubs is starting to get
skeptical he'd live that long, but I keep telling him he' already live THIS long, he'll probably make it to 35 just to be contrary & stubborn, lol
All you need now is a canine and a marsupial. Go for a Wombat they are so cute.
Hubs still wants one (a dog) just not at the moment. Younger kid desperately wants a snake for a pet, it's been her dream pet alongside a Bearded
Dragon for years (I have strange children)
That might happen, but hubs waffles on it a lot. I might be able to talk him into that for Christmas if we don't do the frog tank instead.
Bert's happy, so long as you leave him & his frozen water bottle alone,
What? Please explain I am so curious. He wants a
frozen water bottle?
Your endeavors never seize to amaze me.
We freeze a couple of two liter bottles in the deep freezer in the summer, then we wrap them in a light towel (like one of those thin kitchen towels)
and Bert can lean up against it to cool off if he's too warm. It's actually pretty common, a lot of people add a frozen bottle of water to their
rabbit's hutch to keep them cool (or even guinea pigs' cage) I know the kids' friend that has a ferret does the same, they put a frozen water bottle
in his cage for him to cool off up against in the summer.
The heat here is ....I feel like I am in a steam bath outside. My A/C is "antiquated"
Holy mother, so do I. It's AWFUL out there. And there's nothing but 90's in the forecast for the next week,
solid. Not a single day of the
forecast is for any cooler than 91*, and they even put a 95* in there, ugh. We keep thinking about heading out to the beaches, but we figure so's
everyone else, so...A/C'd bedroom, or cool basement, take your pick.
One thing not going well that I'm going to bitch and moan about is the aquarium's filter pump --- the damn impeller is shot.
It's a fully submersible pump, kind of essentially the same thing as a decorative water fountain pump, so it's supposed to be fully submerged to
work.
I had to completely disassemble it, clean it out again (it's routine, a maintenance thing) and put it back together umpteen times before I figured out
it needed a minor item removed for the impeller to spin like it should -- i removed a tiny rubber end cap off the impeller shaft where it meets one
part of the housing. Now it's spinning instead of stopping & locking up the magnetic impeller system -- it won't run if it can't spin, so it was
constantly not. doing. ANYTHING and driving me nuts until I connected those dots.
The short of it is I thought the motor for the big tank was shot, until I checked the impeller better. I need a new impeller. Right now, the hack
works, and I have the filter from the 10 gallon tank running in the big tank anyway, on the off-chance the submersible one dies entirely. If it does,
screw it, I'm getting a canister system & going that route. At least their replacement parts are easy to find, the impeller for this damn pump is not
available anywhere, and nothing else will fit. ARGH. I'll have to call the company that made the entire tank system (Fluval, one of the better
companies out there) and see if I can't get them to send one.
Well, I guess that wasn't the short of it at all, was it? I rambled on, lol
