Were/Are Atlanta officials onboard with "Defund the Police", like Minneapolis officials?

Not that I'd heard, but it seems amply obvious that they do like having them around to throw under the bus when it's convenient, and that seems to be the issue here.

I was thinking more of the life imitating art angle.

And some of the stuff that seems to be happening as of late, you would have a hard time making it up.

True that!

to watch and see if more or less cops on the street will change anything?

I doubt it.

Is anyone on the ground able to reports about the situation from a first hand account?

I know at least one co-worker who has been downtown pretty much every single day participating in and photographing the rallies and protests, and also helping to clean up.

It will be interesting to know if this event changes anything. Hope your co-worker stays safe.

The mayor must have not liked the police chief and was just waiting for a reason to fire him.

Every person on these boards needs to prepare for a civil war. China is winning and the funds the marxists are getting are bringing this about. They have us hating each other so we don't discover the real enemy. All because one man was elected.

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. If you're left or right you should be ashamed of yourself.

It would take a lot more than the current bunch of assholes to start a civil war.
We will deal with it all, may not be pretty, but we will deal with it.

This isn't a civil war (of slave rights), a declared succession from the Union. Its a *cultural* war designed by One World .gov proponents (Soros and other greedy corporate institutions) who shamelessly use race to divide and conquer. The moderate liberal has no idea how it has been manipulated (for 70 years) into a now indefensible communistic position. What is the end game agenda for Soros? Someone should ask him.

Perhaps. She did meet and walk with protesters and seemed to be trying to fairly mediate.

Now I know why Walking Dead took place in Atlanta.
They always show us a preview of what's to come....

Exactly.

The mayor and DA are busy playing politics with this for their own aspirations, and the cops are caught in the middle. It's not a fair position for them in any scenario and they know it.

I'm following local news stations and the comments on FB.
It seems like the walkout is real and GROWING.

Now they are calling for Firefighters to Join the walkout...

Here is a comment someone posted:

Why hasn't the Mayor issued a curfew? Her city is about to go up in flames

If the firefighters join in, then I'd expect the abuse is deeper than what we've seen with the politics and the police here recently. I'd say then that there's a lot more going on there.

That's just silly. Leave the FN firefighters out of it

Of course, I remember when fire trucks were vandalized a few weeks ago. Makes zero sense, just like vandalizing he media (CNN).

I dunno (doubt) if the city will suddenly burn..

Not suddenly. It takes a while for the new normal to sink in. Then the city will burn.
