Probably what the end goal is. Cause a big enough scene to draw people out in defending themselves and their property so they can all be labelled racists and white supremacists or whatever.

It's like how there's no 'anonymous' group. You just pick up the mantle and say..ok this is what I am.

Say a LEO stops you; he feels especially twuntish and thinks you look a way that just pickles his eggs. He then decides that YOU are antifa, and therefore a terrorist. Terrorists can be indefinitely detained.

Wouldn't it be like saying a Muslim is part of a terrorist group because they look Muslim? I'm not in favor of announcing ANTIFA a terrorist group, but its kind of like hate crimes in I kill someone and if it is determined a hate crime I'm going to do a lot more time, BUT some criminal action needs to happen first for any of this to kick in, do you agree?

The interesting part is ANTIFA is mostly white anarchist....
