I think that it may have something with CNN and how they sometimes forget to state things that Trump is doing. In this case I bet CNN was going to say something like; "Trump has control of the National Guard, and refused to allow them to protect us" or something along those lines.
It could also be that CNN HQ could just have a good area to form up the troops and move out into the surrounding areas.

Yep, except all the states National Guards are currently under control of the President. Remember he Nationalized them due to the covid.

My cop friend was trying to get the ok to ask for an aerial tanker to drop a ton of water on the rioters. Better than a water cannon, and more effective psychologically too.
Guard members are carrying rifles, sidearms and ammunition in response to a "credible threat" aimed directly against them as reported by the FBI, Army Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen, adjutant general of the Minnesota National Guard, said in a phone briefing with reporters.
"Our soldiers are currently carrying ammunition in their magazine pouches," Jensen said. "We don't talk about rules of engagement," he added, but said in general troops "cannot greatly exceed the force" with which they might be threatened.
