Full title : President Trump Tells Sharyl Attkisson in Interview to Air Sunday: “I have a chance to break the deep state”
I know there are people who do not believe in the so called deep state however I am reminded of a USA under secretary of state I spoke with in Guatemala after Obama had appointed a new secretary of defense. I asked him what he thought of the new guy and his response was, "Just another tired old man in a bad suit who might last 2 years; after he is gone I will still be there plugging away." Something like that...

The bureaucrats think and in many cases they do run the government; choosing to push a policy or drag their feet to implement any changes.
streamed at 9:30 a.m. EDT at FullMeasure.news/live

“What am I doing? I’m fighting the deep state,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson. “I’m fighting the swamp…If it keeps going the way it’s going, I have a chance to break the deep state. It’s a vicious group of people. It’s very bad for our country.”

In the wide-ranging interview with Full Measure set to air Sunday, Trump also addressed the debate over whether religious services should remain closed. Calling them “essential services,” he says it’s time for them to open…

…Also addressed in the interview: the controversy over using the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine for coronavirus prevention or treatment. Trump says he just finished a two week course of of the drug for preventive purposes after two White House staffers were diagnosed with coronavirus. “I’m still here, to the best of my knowledge,” he says.

The president also talked about the strengths and weaknesses of his political opponent in the presidential race, Joe Biden, his own Twitter practices, the new Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, and the scandal over FBI surveillance abuses…

The Deep State is a bogyman , every Superhero needs a bogyman to fight against and Trump being "the chosen one" is no different.
As for the Swamp , well that's been maintained and added to by the current incumbent.

Some of his supporters still believe that he is draining the swamp, but they cannot point to any significant reform he has signed into law. They cannot point to a reform agenda he has sought to enact, only to be thwarted by Congress. They certainly cannot point to any investigative effort on a par with the Church Committee, the Pike Committee, or the Rockefeller Commission.

Trump’s interest in possible misdeeds extends no further than the specific Democrats he considers his most direct political adversaries, such as Hillary Clinton. For all his theatrics, he is not actually fighting corruption any more than a WWE wrestler is actually fighting his opponent. Put simply, there is no prospect that he will, in fact, drain the swamp.

So pity the Trump supporters who want to drain the swamp. There is no prospect of their civic happiness. Insofar as their champion thrives politically, Washington, D.C., will grow only more corrupt. But if Trump is proved to have abused his power, the backlash may inspire reforms, as it did after Watergate. You can fight to drain the swamp or to defend Trump, but not both.

this will earn him votes as it did in 2016 ensuring his victory this year

"drain the swamp" but come the end of his 2nd term I doubt anything wll have changed

Will that be deemed a failure? by some yes, by some others nope

and the cycle will continue

The only way anyone has to drain the swamp is for the guilty in the Washington elite to go to prison. If there are no prison terms, then the swamp is only emboldened. The powerful people in Washington MUST believe that they will be treated like the rest of us in order to change their behavior. When I see actual indictments and trials, I will believe in the possibility of draining the swamp. Until then, it's politics as usual.

The amazing thing about this is that it will win Trump the exact people who already believe it.

That's all. The rest of America knows that when used by Trump and his cronies, "Deep State" is nothing more than a fake menance designed to explain Trump's massive failures in office.

It also provides cover for the actual TPTB by making the existence of a hidden power structure in contol of the media, government, banking and corporations seem ridiculous to most Americans who aren't Trump zealots.

Trump is the best thing to happen to the elite in a long time.

Yea its been three years and still no fulfillment on any epic swamp draining or some type of Qanon thing.

If by chance, he is serious about the monumental task of breaking corruption in Washington, it doesn't appear he knows what he's doing. Howover, I feel like "the deep state" has become a mainstream word for political opposition. Not the R and D's underlying corruption.

Saying, "obamagate!" On twitter isn't "breaking the deep state".

Exactly. Until action is taken, it's just trump saying the same thing he said last election. Maybe im wrong and he can single-handedly end corruption through his twitter account.

hIGH STAKES pOKER IS more enjoyable...Didn't trump say the other *weak it could be chess or poker?...you know...some sort of game.

Trump doesn't strike me as much of a 'play by the rules' guy, whether it's chess, checkers, poker, or golf.

He just wants a trophy for participating.

Seriously. ZERO SUCCESS. Most Americans are not Republicans and they sure aren't Trump zealots. Attempting to connect Trump's blunders to the actual hidden power structures just isn't working.

Ardent Trump Supporters have to literally make ridiculous nonense like this up ... let's look at reality. The economy is in the tank, tens of thousands have died in this pandemic, the deficit has skyrocketed, unemployment is at Great Depression levels, American foreign policy is an abject failure, we have alienated our allies and coddled our enemies ... but Trump is somehow a brilliant President and this is all someone elses fault? The "Deep State"?

GMAFB. Trump makes Hoover and Carter look like Washington and Lincoln. This Adminsitration will go down in history as the most corrupt, the most incompetent, the most damaging to this country we have ever seen. IMO.

Bureaucrats

i 've said that it's not the politicians that are the biggest problem, it's the bureaucrats. the ones that run the alphabet agency that twist and manipulate the laws.

true some do have to answer to politicians, but for the most part they read and apply the laws rules and regulation the way they want.

i've also said that each and every one of those heads should have their job performance evaluated every year by a non government controlled committee. picked by the voters of the state from registered voters.

say something like 2 from each state or territory from a lottery type system. one dem, one repub each state and or, if the state has other parties that make up enough of the votes to matter, them a lottery system should include them.

You deny the existence of the deep state and suggested Trump is a superhero.

And you honestly think you or anyone else could have done a better job of defying the FBI, CIA, Russia, Russia, Muller, MSN, Schiff, Pelosi, and the myriad of other detractors who did and have done everything they could do to destroy Trump's presidency even before he took office ?

2019 had the best economy and more working people than anyone thought possible...but hey let us forget that since the virus took over and ruined peoples lives and livelihood; it is Trump's fault not the CCP..

Yep let's put the socialist demented democrats into office this time around so everyplace can be a sanctuary state, pay more taxes, turn in your guns, and strive to be like Portland, San Fransisco, and other democratically run broke states and cities.

Maybe they should draft Governor Whitmer of Michigan to be Biden's running mate for he ain't gonna make 4 years before he forgets how to chew and swallow IMO.. She is a perfect democrat example who cares nothing about the law and her own citizens. Go for it CNN

I am surprised he has not just said, "here Pense you got it I am out of this corrupt mess that has befallen the republic."

Unless the DOJ actually you know prosecutes people then there is zero shot at breaking the deep state.

Also both parties have been hemorrhaging voters for years, last time I bothered to look it up I found something like 40% of registered voters were now unaffiliated or independent, yea I saw that post piece and honestly dont believe 40% of voters are registered democrats.

With apoligies to another of our friends here, what does Occam's Razor tell us?

There are not two sides. Trump is nothing more than a particularly virulent instance of Controlled Opposition.

Mueller didn't push the ball to the end zone, and Barr just closed the concession stand.

Hillary supposedly broke the law, no outcome.

Flynn broke the law, he's been let go (as have Manafort and Cohen as a result of the COVID "crisis" isn't that interesting)

The House Democrats had a clear, evidential 10 point case for impeachment, and instead, they challenged the very clear diplomatic powers of the Office and impeached Trump when they KNEW IT HAD NO CHANCE IN THE SENATE.

Biden and Obama? Nah.

Anyone in the Obama Adminstration? Yeah, one junior FBI lawyer cribbed one form onto another, oh the humanity BUT WE GOT HIM!

Americans are CONTINUALLY bulit up, one "side" or the other, to believe that the guilty will be punished, and yet ...

Nothing. Not even a whimper.

What's the net effect? People are hopeless, disheartened and EASILY CONTROLLED.
