So the sections quoted in the article were out of context and only talking about particular instances that occurred during the series of hacks. Does that clarify things?

Now this doesn't say they were not hacked by ebil Russians, but what it does say, in God's English, is that Crowd Strike could not prove it. When asked under penalty of perjury, they had to tell the truth. And the truth is they didn't have the proof that Russia stole that data.

If you wish to ARROGANTLY assert your ignorance more, feel free, but looking like a fool has to be getting old by now, perhaps a bit of reflection and reading is in your future.

The servers stayed in place, in use, and were remediated and secured as per the house testimony of Crowdstrike.

No, the hard drives remained in place and in use. It is in the testimony transcript.

What was destroyed were some old mobile 'phones which were dealt with according to published DOD/DHS secure data destruction protocols.

They didn't see the data leave because they were examining the evidence after the fact.

It's like the police who find a dead body with a bullet in their head, a gun with fingerprints, and a nearby suspect who owned the gun and matches the fingerprints on the gun. The evidence that the suspect killed them is strong but not conclusive. It is circumstantial.

Do you not understand what "reinstall all software" means? What about "rebuilt at least 11 servers"?

It means the hardware was still in use, doesn't it?

The remediation process is also clearly described in CrowdStrike's House testimony transcript, if you'd have bothered to read it.

Also, the FBI were given the VEEAM backups, which are bitwise images of the VMWare ESX virtual machines which were the servers. There's no particular magic about the physical hardware that the FBI, or any other data forensics group would need.

The bitwise images of the servers are a sufficient snapshot of the servers taken at the time of backup.

The physical hardware would only hold the latest version of the data, which in normal use, is constantly changing and therefore evidence is overwritten just by having the servers switched on.

The backup images, however, are records of the server state at a particular time and are more useful for data forensics than the hardware.
