I truly do not understand what the riots and looting solve. I truly don't understand why people are being attacked for wondering the exact same thing. I truly don't understand why white people are front and center at the riots, throwing bricks, setting things on fire etc. There's no excuse for anyone to do it, but why all the white people? Why, 2300 miles away, are they doing the same sh*t?

Yep, I can imagine some. The potential of abuse exists in just about anything these days. When I was working back in the R&D tech world it was all about let's see how far we can take this and soon as the Marketing guys caught wind of what we were doing and seeing this could be another $100+ million win the reins were unleashed and the funding poured in to deliver. Rarely ever did we think of future consequences and if we didn't pull it off someone else would. Even ideas in our head were property of the Corporation according to contracts/NDAs we had to sign. It was always a rat race toward the $$$ prize no matter what.

Does Canada even have guarantees for freedom of speech/expression/press? Haven't they been locking people up for "hate speech" for years? I'm sure since its a western country they have something that gives the illusion of such freedoms anyway.

I have wondered that, too, then noticed that most of them are light-skinned but dark-haired. I then remembered that Obama gave thousands of Iranian-born individuals US citizenship during his tenure, and especially during the JCPOA negotiations. Maybe they're part of his "resistance army" and have been called to duty to march for the "new normal".
