What if.

What if the ubi happens here in america and it works.
It's a huge success and because of that usa citizens are free from the
stress and worry we have about buying the things we need. Food, shelter, clothing.

Now when we work it's to gain something we want or because we like what we do.
Our children grow up as better humans because we are with them teaching them more often.
Backyard gardens become the norm. A return to family closeness and community.
More and more people turn to making art and entertainment in their free time
The usa experiences a new renaissance. Thus leading the world to do the same.

Stranger things have happened. I can dream can't i.

Is being away from home 8, 10, 12 hours a day and the stress of having to work # jobs just to feed your kids
a bigger problem in this world than we realize?

But i'll say this. Big corporations and companies do not benefit the average person in any meaningful way in their lives.

If everyone is given income without earning it what exactly is the motivation for anyone to actually go work? Especially since those working would have their paychecks taxed so heavily that a 40 hour work week might only garner one days pay? And why would ANYONE choose to work any menial jobs like stocking groceries, sanitizing hospitals, etc.? What about constructing our roads and highways, wiring our buildings, driving ambulances, raising livestock and crops?

How do you propose we fund UBI when people figure out they don't want to work every day to pay for those who wont and there is no revenue to pay for it any more? And exactly who do you think will perform necessary services?

I'm fine with UBI. Just so long as anyone on it agrees to be tazed 3 times a year and a government TV station is created that airs the tazings 24hrs a day.

Who's going to manufacture/process the food, shelter & clothing if everyone gets a UBI? Who's going to teach children if everyone gets a UBI? I suppose computers/automation & non-citizens can solve some of these issues. That being said, for the same cost of all federal social/welfare programs, each U.S. citizen who's over 18 & who doesn't receive a pension could get a UBI of @ at least $1700 per month, for the same cost as all current federal social/welfare programs. Minimum wage can also be eliminated with a UBI. Criteria can be established like a requirement to have private health insurance in order to receive consecutive years UBI.

Been tried and abandoned in other countries. Poor, lazy people just need to own it and get a good cardboard box.

But serioisly, I know Jesus said to help poor peeps, but damn...they make it hard with sll there....ickiness.
