Your numbers are off a little. If the US consists of 330m population, than 5.5% would equal 18.5m. Or 2.2m would be 0.6%
But that does constitute a number of individuals, either way.
Spanish flu eventually infected 25% of the world's population.
COVID is not the flu. It's not even related to the flu. It shares the same basic symptomatology as pretty much every other respiratory disease. Do you ever remember any flu causing a shortage of medical supplies. have we ever run our of ventilators?

Some proof here, maybe, small nuggets... People are dying "with" coronavirus, but not necessarily "from" it. So we are being fed misinformation?
Quite a long vid but hey, people have the time at the moment, right?

If you account for population inflation; this is going to be much worse than 1930s
Unless a war comes and “saves” the day again
Saying that at this point is completely ridiculous. The vast majority of people will be able to go back to their jobs quickly when the lockdown is over.
If we stay locked down completely for 3-4 months, than maybe we could be looking at a depression, but I don't think there is any chance it will go on that long. Quite frankly if the government asks for that, I think people will rebel and they will not be able to even make that happen.

Yea I agree with this too, but China, coulda done more, and someone has to be responsible for this, but speaking of politics, the lefties Will probably never blame China, their actions leading us to this pandemic.
China worked hard to keep it in their own country and cities. They were busy fighting a war, they were trying to stop it from being a world event when they figured out what it was. This virus may have been an escaped virus, or it may have been a natural virus that got into humans and turned into this. One person working at the food market is all that was needed to spread it. It may not have even originally come from China, it could have come from outside of their country.
China did not want to panic the world, if they had, and nothing happened outside their country, everyone would have been mad at them.
The reason this is a pandemic is because people are traveling all over the world, this would have been a local Chinese event thirty years ago. It is our stupid societies desires to go travel everywhere that caused this, the inability of us to be satisfied with just looking at a picture of things, the internet wound up boosting air travel because people were putting things on line and telling others how great it is over there. I thought it would be great to have a person just send a picture, instead it created a flying frenzy.

There has to be demand.
People might return to work, but if nobody gets a tatto, then tattoo artist are out of work. If people wear their tennis shoes a little longer and dont splurge for a new pair every month, demand drops.
This is causing people to re evaluate what is important to them. Extra money will most likely be saved instead of spent. People are realizing that they didn't have enough of a safety cushion for harder economic times.
I do not share your enthusiasm of a quick rebound. The demand has to be strong for sales to be strong.
Sales have to be strong for investors to invest in the market. Investors are already shaky and confidence isn't earned overnight.

I can’t say I see eye-to-eye with this one.
Humans like experiences - and the world got smaller with all of our formerly-existing transportation abilities.
Some people also like experiencing different cultures, foods/restaurants, drinks, scenery, etc.
I don’t think it’s fair to blame human curiosity and desire to explore for all of this. And I also don’t think it’s fair to assert people should be satisfied sitting in their recliner on their iPad looking at all the cool stuff in the world without any expectation they’d ever be able to see it for themselves.

think of a Virus as being an Alien Creature, not really a 'lifeform' as humans reckon being Alive
I think the current Pandemic/Pestilence COVID19, quickly Adapts or transforms in different Environments we find in the different Nations of the world...
the COVID19 in Wuhan China grew in different weather than the Virus in Spain or Italy or England or Iran or USA...
I suggest that each climate makes the COVID19 transform into a unique signature Virus and we should 'see' different infection/transmission/morbidity numbers in each region of 'hot spots' around the world
? perhaps we really got a 'shape shifting' Virus causing all the chaos, misunderstanding, in every nation with extreme breakouts...1% fatal there & 10% fatal over there...everywhere the 'numbers' don't fit a pattern of a single Agent pathogen
