What am I proposing?? The same thing I propose in every one of these threads. Stop being AFRAID. Go live your life.

And your alarmist OP clearly displays signs of you yourself panicking. I would say it's an accurate description.
In any case, I'm not losing sleep. Hopefully your not either. Well I guess I lied actually we are all about to lose an hour of sleep, but at least it's not from pandemic

Drinking alcohol is a threat to your health too, a threat that causes hundreds of thousands of deaths when intoxicated by way of poor decision making. Why have you not rang the bells of Doom over that daily threat??

When May and a normal summer season shows up, will anybody admit how silly they feel?? Probably not. It's the alarmists who are always right and will jump through hoops when proven wrong to rationalize their obvious fear.

Ppl talk of self quarantine as if it's a new term. Well that's exactly what one does when they call out sick from work pretty much like normal . But the state tells you to literally do exactly the same thing you have already practiced your whole life but with fancier words, and suddenly it's time to panic.

The mortality rate is an inflated number because there has been no way to measure the actual number of infected who chewed it up and spit it out thinking it was a normal seasonal respiratory illness.
not like someone is going to get tested after they have already gotten better.
I wonder how long it will be before some of y'all revert to frenzied state of easy persuasion like the idiots at the supermarket in the movie the mist. What am I saying, I can clearly see from the daily posts that already happened.

The majority of Americans never bought into the fear-mongering. And the few that did, are starting to realize that they'll still be alive next year this time.

It was just announced that the Elk Grove School District (Elk Grove, CA), the fifth largest school district in California, has decided to close all schools in the district until, at least, 03/13/2020.

This appears to be in response to a family member of a student testing positive for covid-19.

Thnx Boadicea. I'm so tired of this...fear mongering. Can you imagine during the Spanish Fly epidemic if we had news, real or fake and social media?

People, whole families and neighborhoods dead. Desimated. Spanish Flu dropped thousands.

You and me both!!! And we're not alone. We're in good company.... I do wish there were more of us though.

The really sad thing to consider is that if the people fighting the Spanish Flu knew about the internet of the future, they probably would have thought, "What a valuable tool! Just think what good use we could put the internet to and how many people could be helped with the information and resources available to them!!!" But here we are, and this valuable tool is being used and abused for all kinds of disinformation and misinformation and outright false information.

What a waste.

Thank goodness for you and every other sensible and practical 1st responder out there on the front lines. We need you more than ever these days. Panicking doesn't work in true emergencies, eh?

Just don't neglect yourself. You can't take care of others if you don't take care of yourself first. Good luck.

Thanks, B. I've just retired, but still volunteer.

My perspective is call 911, and I'm coming like RIGHT NOW. I'm doing the same as 10 years ago. Every call.

Gloves, mask, hand washing...no different, except better PPE's.

Not sure what you are getting at. Are you trying to say that they are going to quarantine the whole city? cause if so I doubt it. These are probably positions for the small quarantine facilities they already have on going. Not to shut down a city.

Sounds like he doesn't really, "play for his teammates", and doesn't care much for the fans that may be self-quarantined and watching from home.

If LeBron scores a swish shot and nobody is there to see it, does a LeBron really score a swish shot?

He's a ZEN master!

I have to wonder, those of you who are saying there is nothing to worry about, or that you do not FEAR things (because we all know swimming with piranhas is only dangerous if your FEAR doing it, so do it anyway..), would you be saying the opposite if the government was saying "Nah it's nothing. just a cold. we're not worried about it."

Would you be collating data and making graphs to show how the government and media are downplaying it?

I mean, contrarian is as contrarian does.

No, it's not.

Your post has been cracking me up for several minutes now. I've managed to have a full cup of coffee and I'm still laughing. Did you honestly equate "not being afraid of obvious fear-mongering loons" to swimming in a tank full of piranha?

Sorry, Gnarles, but I don't have the time or crayons to break that kind of false equivalence down for you today.

sigh - critical thinking dies again

the existance of these posts - does NOT imply a blanket quarrantine of an area - but quarantine operations within an area

this should not be hard to grasp

neither should the obvious - a quarrantine officer would not be stationed within the area they were supposted to be quarrantining

but hey - this is ATS doom porn - so logic is not expected

Honest question, but why wouldnt they be posted to an area they are quarantining? I'm likely missing something here, but it would seem counter productive to have to bus/fly/ship people in and out daily to manage the quarantine.

I should start by clarifying I believe it's all over reacting.. but...

One kid in Indy tested positive. They closed all the schools there today. If the test is confirmed they might close all the schools for 14 days.

Now of course they don't do this for the normal flu.

But it seems like the people in charge are consistently over reacting and it's snowballing.

Keeping an entire cruise ship in quarantine? They don't do that for norovirus or other flu's.

Something's messed up.

I agree with you, on small budget, and if you shop wisely you don't have to spend much. All if the canned vegetables I bought were a $1 each. All of the dried beans were $1.49 each. Rice was a bit much but I did buy 20lbs worth, for pasta we spent .88 for each box. You just have to know how to shop for the deals. Plus, if you have a dollar tree, you can shop easily there, everything is a dollar.

So, it's the Liberal controlled areas where they let in illegals, that they're having the most problems with? Imagine that.
