Yeah. And the pop-up notifications to reinstall is making me hate them.

I've been getting it too. Not at any specific time of day, but often enough. It goes away when I switch browsers, even when I switch back.

Not getting it now using Chrome. Same computer, different browser. No anti-virus installed on this machine. Just running a firewall. Chrome no pop-up. Opera yes pop-up telling me about "qrc:" protocol something or other.

I've been studying this.
The attacks start after TWO BRIDGESTONE AD BANNERS (side & bottom) appear at the same time.
Still on chrome...seems to be settling down atm.

I despise McAfee AND all of the software companies that try and surreptitiously install it on my computer during installs. As far as I'm concerned, any software that relies on user intervention via an "opt-out" checkbox to prevent installation IS in fact malware.

Holy s. Have SuperAntiSpyware clear all the crap and cookies, or ccleaner . You may have to use ghostery to kill a re-infect, but your problem is a rotten cookie.

It just happened. Said I need to call Microsoft, do not attempt to shut down, your computer is locked.
This is the first time that I could not close the browser. I was totally locked up.

A LOT of discussions going on when searching Google with "Category: Intrusion Prevention", perhaps maybe an issue with Norton...

This issue has been going on since September and Norton team is still working on a fix for this ? I even switched to Norton 360 a few weeks ago when Norton offered Norton 360 for free. Norton 360 has the same problem

Norton Security 22.19.8.65 Showing Intrusion Threats

Well for me and like others have reported here, it is NOT working on my computer! Norton says they are working on a solution..STILL. Just shows you the upgrade was not ready to be released. Was released on a Friday before a weekend and problems began immediately. Bad form to release a product update on a Friday. I think this one got away from them and released before it was ready. Happy for you SoulAsylum it's working for you but for many of us that just isn't the case.

Norton Security 22.19.8.65 Showing Intrusion Threats

As I said this is not on your computer. It is simply a remote computer contacting your computer out of the blue. Adding the IP block to your firewall and letting MBAM do it's blocking is about all you can do. There is no infection.

Yes. All clear.
It just happened again. One full page ad for McAfee and another for Norton.

Excellent find. Ghostery can also block that bugger.

Do you have McAfee and Norton both installed? Or is this the "Microsoft Support Scam" we are talking about?

Nope. Not anymore. It is the support scam, but I got all 3 in the last hour.
