Well i guess what i mean is, why would the government let this site be open for everyone to see, if it were a threat to them, as far as exposing truths?

I know i can be a little paranoid, but i'm a military spouse, and i know we are stricted from visiting sites like wikileaks. I also just want to make sure i'm not on a site that will get my husband kicked out. :/

I honestly cannot address whether or not you accessing this site would effect your spouse or not. There are just too many variables possible to make an informed decision. If my spouse worked in a capacity that involved a high level of scrutiny, I personally would simply ask them if surfing this site might or might not cause them problems at work.

As for why this site, and sites like it, are allowed to remain open... Well we have Constitutional amendments which protect ATS. Plus, purely my own thoughts... It's a lot more efficient for a Government to give its public an easy method of venting - and one that is right out in the open - rather than suppressing freedom of speech and forcing these dialogues into the shadows.

When it's all said and done, anyone, including alphabet agencies can log in here, read, even become members and post. For example it is common knowledge that a government listening post tunes into every single ATS live broadcast - and is joked about on air quite often.

Thanks. My husband is just a normal guy in the military, so i'm pretty sure i should be safe.lol This is barely my second official day posting on here, so i'm up with questions. Thanks for the help though.

Oh, and I know we have the Constitutional right to these kind of forums, but i was digging a little deeper

I am not that new - joined May 2010 - however I need help. In the past month none and I mean none of the features work for me. I cannot post an image (I can upload an image), a link, a quote or anything else. All I can do is type a post as I am doing now. Seems this happened right after I resized and changed my last avatar. I can't change my avatar now either. I have ask for help on boards, sent U2U's with no avail. Its fustrating, perhaps my features have been turned off or something. Please help if you can.

Don't be discouraged just yet. You could knock of twenty posts in about an hour if you pick topics that interest you and have something to add.

The twenty post thing is to give the Mods a chance to see if you're here to spam, insult, or generally disrupt the boards. Believe me, it's an easy hurdle over, and it's function has worked very well.

Start a thread in "Introductions", and reply to any one that stops by to offer a welcome. BANG..... You start your first thread. Here's a link to the forum, and any new member can start a thread without the twenty requirement.

If you have any questions, please give a shout in this thread, send asala a u2u because you can message any Mod, or come bang on my wall in profile.

Welcome to ATS

Hi I am fairly new here and noticed a # 1 in my profile next to "WATS index". Can anyone tell me what this means and what the WATS index is?

Ok. You are getting blank screens because the 2010 updates have deactivated the old link.
Here is what you will need to do (one of many various ways, Lol)

(1) Access media.abovetopsecret.com by going to "tools" on the menu bar above and scroll halfway down the Account Settings page to the 3rd box that says "your avatar" and click on the link that says "upload avatar"

(2) Login (if you aren't already) with your ATS username/password

(3) Upload the images that you want to use for your avatar (170x240) or for your background (180x450) ish, plus the blank .gif image (170x240) you will only need that if you are using the background image, you will not use that if you are using an avatar image.

For Avatars (this will be easier if you have 2 tabs open, the media profile tab AND the ATS Account Settings tab, via Tools on the toolbar):

(4) Once the image is uploaded, dbl click on it and then copy the text in the first box (http:// yadda yadda)

(5) Come back to the ATS Account Settings page (under Tools) and paste that text into the 3rd section that says "Your Avatar" box "avatar url.

(6) Make sure you click save. That should be it.

_________________________________________________________
For Backgrounds:

Follow the same process as above, but use the blank .gif image (170x240) as the avatar (copy/paste into the avatar url box in Account Settings under Tools and put the background image in the box right below it that says "Mini-Profile background image"

Make sure you hit "save" individually. Hitting it once will not save them both at the same time (at least, it does not for me).

p.s. To get a blank .gif image (if you don't already have it) just right-click on any member's background image in one of the posts and save it to your desk top. The image that is saved is the .gif image, not their background image.

Thank you, this was very helpful! I've been trying for some time now to figure this out! Don't understand why they didn't just keep it simple, but at least I've finally done it!

I notice that my 'background image' isn't full, and not very tall. Is this because I don't have enough posts?

No, it isn't because of posts, it's because you haven't used the blank .gif as your avatar. So, all you need to do is find someone who is currently using one (I'll look for an example and post it at the bottom) double click on their avatar and save it to your computer (it won't save their background, it will save the blank .gif) upload that to your media profile as you did your background image. Then copy/past that link into your profile in the AVATAR box, it is the one right above the Background box that you have used.

ETA:
Here is an example - right click on S.O's picture and it will save that blank .gif. Don't worry, it won't save the background picture. This way, you will always have that copy stored, should you need it later.

I did as you advised. I uploaded their gif file avatar to my own (the one above the background avatar.) It's still the same size

Hmmmm, I can tell by your pic. that you haven't put the url for the avatar .gif in the correct spot in your ATS profile page. So, double check (if you would) that the url for the .gif (in your media page) double click on the gif and copy/paste that url, the top line is the avatar, starting with http:// and paste it into the box in your ATS profile marked: Your Avatar, avatar url. which is just above where you posted the url for your background. Make sure you hit the submit button to save it, it won't do that automatically.

Hi Asala, after following an advert on Facebook, I was brought to your fantastic site! Brilliant!!! Well done guys!! Following various ATS threads and headlines; Alien/Roswell/Ufo, Political cover-up and mis-information over the past four months, yesterday I joined up. Right now I'm trying to create a Profile, provide an introduction etc. The log-in page and the ATS e-mail both recommend newbies visit "the members centre (memcentre)" and "Introduction Fourm". Where can I find these? Where exactly are the links. The above link Zedd's Handbook takes me to "...page cannot be displayed". Thank you for any help that you could provide. Many thanks, Seeker7.

Thanks, have figured it all out now
. But can anyone explain why, when I keep setting my Profile time zone to GMT: Casablanca, Dublin, London, it records itself to be in any other random timezone BUT when "submit" is pressed on the section's box on the page?? i.e:. GMT: (Casa),(Dub),(Lon) >click SUBMIT< profile reads: Timezone: GMT (+/- xhrs): (somewhere else)/(somewhere else)/(somewhere else).

Many, many thanks.

Thanks for starting this as I am a new member and have a quick question...next to each person's response or thread, there is info regarding that member. I know the P, F and S stand for Posts, Flags, and Stars, but what does the W and K mean??

Thanks for the help.

For a def of HAARP, I recomend doing a google search and maybe looking at an article in Wikipedia or something.

As far as a BB code guide, here it is:
