I’m not really a political person and consider myself kind of in the middle shying away from the extremes at both end of the spectrum. I care so
little to understand politics I’m not sure if that makes me a Centrist, a Libertarian or an Independent so I don’t even try to put a label on it.
With that said, I really hate all the polarized partisan tribalism that seems to be prevalent on this site but I have a question?
Since you are the one throwing flaming brickbats at “liberals” and blaming them for this “madness”, one can only assume you are a
“conservative”? From that perspective, besides ranting with your outrage to an internet echo chamber, would your solution be to make morality laws
against this sort of thing or somehow forbid it?
Political affiliations aside, I do have my hot button issues and government interference into what I do with my private life, what I do with or put
into my body, how I raise my children or who I or anyone sleeps with is nobody’s goddamn business and nobody’s right to dictate. Within reason of
course, we can’t really have anarchy so maybe that makes me a liberal on these types of social issues but any of this sort of intervention into the
private lives of people is something I will always rally against as a matter of conscience particularly if driven by the theological mythology
typically associated with "conservatives".
You keep referring to an agenda being pushed but the family has said bringing this kids story into the public eye was to combat bullying. While it
does seem somewhat exploitative, which I find distasteful, have you ever been bullied for something and as a way of standing up to that bullying,
embraced and reclaimed whatever the reason was you were being bullied or shamed for? It is a way of taking the bully’s power away from them and I
can fully understand this story if beyond their moment of notoriety, that is truly the motivation behind it.
So this boy likes to sing, dress up and perform the art of drag – so what? That’s innocent enough in itself and if he turns out to be gay or trans
so what but where I think the problem comes in is exposing someone so young to the culture of drag, which I’d agree is inappropriate, however,
it’s none of my business nor should it be anyone’s.
I don't know how this whole drag thing came out of the shadows and even became popular so before anyone else does, I'll say it to myself...OK Boomer!
