In Spain - no news here apart from 2 cases on the islands who recovered, strange no more because many have arrived back from China. 50 came on UK evacuees plane alone.
Have masks for us and stocked up, have plan.

Something is bugging me and I cant put my finger on it!

What can hide in plain site but remain undetected or kept secret?
China's reaction is astronomical when you consider their annual flu death numbers which is indicative of the nature of this
beast. Was China developing a bio-weapon to be used in the future and a wip got out.

How long does it take (any bio scientists around?) breakdown the components of a virus? In order to know what ists made of?

Is it possible for a virus to chameleon like and hide an undetectable component part?

Yeah everyone expects them to be "more truthful" now the west is involved, when in reality the west has probably told them to STFU and start winding down the numbers.

We did just send them 10 million dollars in medical aid, so maybe that was part of the agreement.

I think you are confusing 'governments' with 'society' (culture).

The highest levels would lose control first, down the pyramid of control back to a more 'local' level. How far would it fall? Well, families would survive, and neighborhoods next (local community), then towns would rebuild … next counties, in some areas cities, then 'states' … then maybe national governments, etc..

IT wouldn't be the end of the world, but TPTB want to stay TPTB, and then can't do that if the world rebuilds without them, after some (any?) serious calamity, because they are really superfluous anyway.

Society will be fine. That is human nature. Governments? Maybe not so much.

As part of this study, the past work of Zhengli Shi from 2016 is looked at. She has held a leading role at the L4 Bio lab in Wuhan and also holds a leading role in China's response to the virus.

SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronavirus pose threat for human emergence

In this study, we examine the disease potential for SARS- like CoVs currently circulating in Chinese horseshoe bat populations. Utilizing the SARS-CoV infectious clone, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse adapted SARS-CoV backbone.

The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild type backbone can efficiently utilize multiple ACE2 receptor orthologs, replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells, and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV. Additionally, in vivo experiments demonstrate replication of the chimeric virus in mouse lung with notable pathogenesis.

Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from CoVs utilizing the novel spike protein. Importantly, based on these findings, we synthetically rederived an infectious full length SHC014 recombinant virus and demonstrate robust viral replication both in vitro and in vivo. Together, the work highlights a continued risk of SARS-CoV reemergence from viruses currently circulating in bat populations.

While public health measures silenced the SARS-CoV outbreak 2, recent metagenomics studies have identified sequences of closely related SARS-like viruses circulating in Chinese bat populations that may pose a future threat... Therefore, to examine emergence potential of circulating CoVs, we built a chimeric virus that encodes a novel, zoonotic spike protein in the context of a viable CoV backbone...

SHC014 and WIV1 sequences represent the closest relatives to the epidemic SARS-CoV strains (Fig. 1 a,b), but maintain important differences in the 14 residues that bind human ACE2,

Having established SHC014 spike as a potential threat, we next synthesized a full-length SHC014-CoV infectious clone based on the approach used for SARS-CoV (Fig. 3a) 15 . Replication in Vero cells revealed no deficit for SHC014-CoV relative to SARS-CoV (Fig. 3b); however, SHC014-CoV was significantly (p < 0.01) attenuated in primary human airway epithelial cultures at both 24 and 48 hours post infection (Fig. 3c).

The virus and the economy. Someone in the State dept. said something in terms of like this: so those reading this, yes, the economy will have to CHANGE. I see it here in this country and its only 2 weeks old, from tour operators to hotels to food industry to taxi drivers.

On the other hand, a White House official who interviewed the report on the phone said that the effects of the spread of the new coronavirus on the U.S. economy were "detailed analysis of how the supply network from China will be affected. He said, and he thought carefully about the possibility of depressing the growth of the US economy.

It'll hit the economy. Husband is glad his company never jumped in with China. They favor local supply chains, so the Chinese pharma supply issue won't impact them like it will some.

Walmart is full-in on China as supplier bottler of their equate 'Brand' of otc meds & stuff

since the Feb 2nd onset of the China breakout...i have decided not to use/buy the China asprins/suppliments in the pharmacy aisles of Walmart in the 'equate' brand packages

Your theory doesnt make sense if "they" know the mild cold version is out of the barn. But, if they think there is still a chance to contain the high CFR pathogen (which almost by definition, does not spread as quickly), they might be able to cover that up and keep various economies flowing.

I see what you're saying but there doesn't have to be a second virus with high CFR. It could just be the second wave. First round is slow enough, impossible to contain, low CFR. Second wave eventually starts, higher CFR, just as slow (if not slower) and sneaky, but not limited to the old.

If this isn't a weaponized pathogen, I think it soon will become one. With enhancements, of course. It already has many characteristics that I would imagine would be on a check list of properties wanted in a debilitating and destabilizing biological weapon.

One enhancement could be to make the pathogen immune to being stymied by a vaccine. Perhaps even make any such vaccine leveraged into making the pathogen even more deadly. Of course, a first exposure would act just like being administered a vaccine. Oh wait, maybe we are seeing that already.

You know youre correct. I still call them communist though. Like calling the dems dems or the repubs repubs and knowing inside they have mutated into some weird alien thing. LOL!

It doesn tmatter anyway what we call it.. it was collapsing on itself for a long time now. This virus and the response to it.. might just be a culture and government changer. Be an amazing thing to witness I think!
