I completely agree. Something spooked China enough to lock down so many cities, tank their economy, beat anyone not wearing a mask, bar citizens and let them to die in their homes, spray some fog all over the streets...All for just a flu?

I listen to Ketsuko and her calm logic, but then hear others on here asking these baffling questions and I'm just as confused as everyone else.

All these research papers contradicting each other don't help, either.

Our govt flew our cruise passengers home against CDC's recommendations. Why?

Answering your question, not necessarily. Increasingly, control mechanisms are more out in the open, even and perhaps, especially, while happening. Whether true or not, it works to divide us all more, which definitely helps out control mechanisms, by redundantly providing more cause for control mechanisms.

Of course, we would all wish more than anything such things are not possible. However, we simply don't know. Also, many have discussed numbers of dead, symptoms, even (falling over dead in the street, for instance), patients appearing to seize, extreme measures being taken which seem out of context for reported dead, newly constructed "hospitals," which just appear to be containment facilities for people, not places of treatment.....just doesn't add up.

I think we can fairly well assume that the media is controlling the output of information, and will do anything to stop chaos. If Civil society breaks down its all over. So we know its far worse than the flu , most don't want to hear bad news, so they will ignore the doomsters , simply because life is hard enough already without another problem. Which begs the question when should an informed person start to get worried, and take preventative measures. If the MSM are controlling this narrative, and making it appear that the numbers in the West are low enough not to cause any problem. Again its probably all to do with risk assessment if the economy stalls, projected death tolls will probably be higher than any flue. Its a sticky one.

So much doesnt make sense in this whole situation.

In this day and age with the internet and the connectivity it makes even less sense as to why this situation continues to be elusive and to evade any form of a definitive analysis.
Someone has to be actively working on it besides CCP to keep it all so contained and mysterious.

People keep bringing up that none of the evacuees or 'recovered' have blabbed on social media, which further adds to the improbability of this all.

Surreal times we live in.

I have a theory as to why the infected were brought back to the US... we wanted some of the live virus. The original strain from a live host.

Advantage:

I disagree with the video. I like hearing the theories and especially well thought out ones, but for me personally.. I believe its a nasty critter... but natural. I do believe some of the more fringy theories that pertain to peripheral things with this virus and with its reporting and etc.. but I cant get on board with the things theorized in the video.

I'm not sure there's much to disagree with. It's simply information being relayed, from someone supposedly in Chinese intelligence. The person who made the video even stipulates that it seems incredibly sensationalist, but further makes the point that it's a possibility and one which not enough information exists to adequately make an informed decision about. All these posts just above mine, and many throughout the duration of three threads bear out not having enough information to make an informed decision. It's been noted many times that China seems exceedingly "spooked," just as officials in health organizations seem to be, as well, without the reported numbers or virulence/contagion/etc. to back up what we are being told.

I guess one thing all epidemic and pandemic movies never account for is that if it happened - the govts around the world would conspire together to hide it until it was unhideable to stop economies tanking, because that would be the beginning of the end of society.

I would think the Wuhan evacuees would be a much better prospect. Ketsuko mentioned they'd be good research subjects.

I think that is what really happened to all them lost societies in the past. The economy collapse for some reason and no tale was left behind.

Meh so we are going thru the information blackout. I just can’t keep watching this, to busy IRL. Still believe something is fishy in this story, so many possibilities on how this plays, out like I said a few days back, those writing the history books are the only ones who will truly see how this plays out. I for one do not for one moment believe the Chinese, I suppose they stopped reporting infected numbers by now, or made some other condition of what infected really is etc.

If I had to guess I would assume the markets will eventually correct in the coming weeks, considering China, has been brought to its knees economically. If it does not, then we have bigger problems than a pandemic.

We get what we can get I guess. I like the fishbowl hosts.

I agree the Wuhan evacs would be PERFECT research subjects and you can believe they were and are. I mean perfect if we had enough peripheral data about them and their movements and etc.

It would be the nicest to have living hosts with the original strain and living hosts with the mutations. Its burning through populations, but seems suddenly to let the host live longer to spread itself wider and then overloads the system.. and its heavy shed.. in the host. Its gone airborne.. and can be passed in fecal matter.. it lives exceedingly long on surfaces.. and it can be passed by hosts who test negative initially and hosts who show no symptoms. It would be the nicest of all to have a sampling from all of the major evolutions of this virus... unless we are , in fact, dealing with the original strain this whole time. It came out of the barn from being a zoonosis.. to the jump being airborne and etc... which I dont think we really are sure about. I dont belivee it jumped from bats.. personally. That whole wet market thing was always fishy. pun intended....

We all know it's a lie, as China keeps changing the rules on what gets reported.

I hear you about RL interference with my virus obsessions.. lol! I was gone for 3 days and I cant even begin catching up on posts! Its an enormous amount of information to sift through.

I think it can be artificially corrected.. as usual. I dont know how long that can be maintained though.

Yeah everyone expects them to be "more truthful" now the west is involved, when in reality the west has probably told them to STFU and start winding down the numbers.

I think you are confusing 'governments' with 'society' (culture).

The highest levels would lose control first, down the pyramid of control back to a more 'local' level. How far would it fall? Well, families would survive, and neighborhoods next (local community), then towns would rebuild … next counties, in some areas cities, then 'states' … then maybe national governments, etc..

IT wouldn't be the end of the world, but TPTB want to stay TPTB, and then can't do that if the world rebuilds without them, after some (any?) serious calamity, because they are really superfluous anyway.

Society will be fine. That is human nature. Governments? Maybe not so much.
