I've also heard about the vid but haven't seen it yet. I'll see what I can find.

I simply want to know what's really going on. Afraid? Nah... Not really. I know I'll go someday but if it's due to this flu, I know how I'm spending my last week.

Fishing, Drinking, Smoking and a paycheck worth of 'escorts' (ok... I really don't want to infect those ladies with the same so I'll have to rethink that last one - Maybe I'll just get the escorts now and get that part over with before I get it) and a tent with a firepit a couple feet from the edge of the lake.

You see, Wuhan is where this originated, and Xi'an, the seat of the Tang Dynasty of old, is is in the neighboring Provence of Shaanxi (which is also under quarantine).

If Israel gets surrounded by a 3 billion (?) people army, should this go very wrong, we could probably count out China in that prophecy.

Maybe China takes this accusation up as true and attacks Israel for this reason.

Me saying that in a thread titled "WORRIED YET?" is hardly out of context.

while we are better suited, should a pandemic hit... We may not be as well off as you think.

FredT had a good thread that shead light on the American health system, and how it would react with a pandemic.

Food for thought. I'm not saying we should be worried... I'd rather people just be prepared, and not just for Winnie the Flu, but have a month of food and cushion for whatever arrises. But we shouldn't just berate people for using this instance as an eye opener.

It's made me think. What would I do if I just needed to lay low for a bit while dust of any kind settles.

What I think is going on is that everyone outside of China has their head in the sand. Just like Wuhan did when it first broke out which enabled it to take off like crazy after a couple of months of ignoring it. I have a good friend who is a top nurse at a major hospital (we live in different cities now) and I asked her what the consensus was there.... she said she was more worried about the regular flu (this was just a couple of days ago). She was very blasé about it and that's at a MAJOR US hospital. It will take another month for this to really set in because everyone seems to think it's not going to be bad anywhere outside of China. It doesn't seem that hospitals outside of China are really taking it seriously. If it started in November in China.... we've got another 3 months to wait for it to blow up anywhere else. I think there will be a "second wave".

If it comes out of china, you know... the place this is all happening, it has to be overblown false.

Overblown isn't quite how I would describe this. Underblown is more like it.

My money is on the latter.

Many people do not know much about China.
Just look up the water situation there. Many people are drinking highly highly tainted water, like Flint Michigan but on a mass scale. Many people are eating tainted foods, or questionable foods. The air they are breathing is toxic and polluted.
Now add all those things up and my guess is that the vast majority of people in China are not that healthy and may have some underlying health issues. Add a virus to that and that is when it gets dangerous.

As far as the doctor getting sick. If you have been following the stories online, the doctors are working until they collapse. So they are literally working themselves sick. That would make them much more susceptible for viruses.

If you look up the life expectancy in China it's 76.7 years. In the United States it's 78.8 years. We aren't a whole lot better off in the US.
