Watching all of this unfold and the horrific videos leaking out of China as to the response to the outbreak by the government really reinforces the insidious nature of Communism, and what happens when atheistic, propaganda and lies are propped up as reality.

Was watching a video that really brings it out. I mean a lot of us who have done even a little study into the insidious nature of Communism upon humanity know how evil it is. But this video gave a lot of sentiment to the way I have been personally feeling with what has been going on with the way they arrested the doctors trying to warn others about the virus, the way the barricade people in their own homes, the way they have been taking away journalists into "quarantine" for reporting on it. It is a really sad, tragic look at how evil that government is.

You've done a little study on Communism and so you can preach how evil and insidious it is? What kind of glorious governance do you live under that allows you to be so judgemental? We here are seekers of truth by any means necessary. It's called alt media for a reason, and reason is that we are kept in the dark and fed bullsh# just the same as the Chinese. You can hardly criticise them for not being more forthcoming with the rest of the world than they are with their own people. Do you really think we're any better? Do you really think we will be treated better when the sh# has well and truly hit the fan? Do we not kill our whistle-blowers, or imprison them indefinitely? Do our authorities never get heavy handed?

These people, human beings, are in crisis. They are suffering. Mistakes will be made, some are panicking and breaking down from exhaustion and they are scared. You don't beat your kid because he gets sick from not washing his hands. It's like seeing a guy on the streets eating a rat because he is starving to death and calling him a dirty bastar#.

Please lay off the Communism=evil bullsh#. The Virus is the enemy, not the people of China, and not communism, socialism or any other crapism. Humanity rests on all our shoulders but you are so high and mighty you are just adding to the burden we carry. Open your mind because it stinks in there right now.

Sorry for the rant, but this level of ignorance really gets on my nerves.

My thoughts go out to the people of China. Nowhere in the world could have had the capacity to handle this better. They supply the world, and they are out of masks.

The risk in the UK is incredibly low to the public for the moment. What I do know, should there be a rise in confirmed cases in the UK there will most likely be a roll out of Health Department TV and radio and online "Catch it, Bin it, Kill it" ads if not already.

Preparedness strategies include televised public information on such as wars or epidemics for example. I'd imagine any information packed shows about Coronavirus would be aired by shows like Panorama in the UK for example.

They generally do this to inform the general public in ways that prepares without causing mass hysteria. While a albeit a different scenario they did this 80's during the cold war tensions they showed shows like Threads and so on (though I was told that Threads was a pretty scary show).

Also with the internet and social media these days they will play a huge part in informing people what to do in such events.

In a very worse case scenario we'd probably see the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 enforced. Deployment of the Armed Forces which would likely include Royal Army Medical Corps being called in to try a suppress some of the stress on the NHS and most likely we'd see field High Level Isolation Units being set up in certain areas.

I'd say we might see checkpoints maybe in to heavy populated areas and quarantine and possible curfew based on risk assessments. The UK government will probably try and avoid any response that affect day to day life but there are levels of containment involved.

Not really the first time. Tiananmen Square 1989, their treatment of Tibet and more recently the Uyghur detention camps are all powerful reminders of the actions of a totalitarian state. If you ever get the chance watch a doco called "Blood in the snow" about the murder of Tibetan refugees on the border.

The Brits are admirable for their history of banding together in times of greatest crisis. I think they will do that, and make us all proud, should the circumstances arrive. Their newest immigrants from the 3rd world? Not so much, most likely.

I don't think any human government has the solution to humankind's problems. I put my trust in God's kingdom. It will soon come to rid earth of wickedness and establish a government of justice and peace over all the earth.

All human rule is an utter failure. Communism is just another failure. Suppressing the truth, ruling on the foundation of lies and mass murder of your citizens does not a good government make. If you question this you are insane. The very fact you are trying to justify the horrible outcome of bad rule shows your true heart. And it is not bright.

It's utterly amazing how people on this website can defend the blatant human rights violations that have been perpetuated on their people in the past and continue to because of the failed Communism system of things, full of lies, deceit, and 0 tolerance of freedom of the people.

Are they being used on new patients first or retests? If they keep testing the same people with those kits because of false negatives...that's even more new cases being missed. Is my thinking flawed here?

Well ATS I didn't think for a second I will be signing in again.It has been at least 4 years since my last time logged in.This beautiful place had/has become a political cesspool,so I would still be reading from forums I am interested in,but not log in.And then the the first part,and second part of this thread showed me a glimpse of what ATS used to be.
I am currently back home in Burkina Faso,West Africa.I have been watching closely this outbreak,not panicking(no sense in doing so),but keeping up to date,because if this ever gets here it will rip this poor country from top to bottom.For the past month,we have been lucky enough to not have any case or even a suspected one.But this all changed a couple of days ago.
We now officially have a man in quarantine at a hospital here in the capital Ouagadougou.A man of Chinese origin,returned from China on January 29th,and was "confined at home",until he started developing a fever and showing signs of the flu,at which point he was taking to the hospital to be quarantined,alongside his housemate(who is not showing signs),and the Chinese embassy informed our Health Ministry. 20 people have been identified and have been confined at home
Now my worries are a lot,about this case:
-How many people has he have contact in the plane and at the airport(can't be 20 only)
-Our inability to test for the virus shall this blow up
-Sanitary conditions in the country are very poor(blowing up noses straight on the street being one of those)
- Health care isn't the best here
-Lack of information of the laymen out there

As of February 1, 2020, a total of 3,099 persons on 437 flights were screened; five symptomatic travelers were referred by CDC to local health care providers for further medical evaluation, and one of these persons tested positive for 2019-nCoV.

I don't think I knew we were screen passengers this far back. In addition to the five symptomatic travelers, I wonder if any asymptomatic carriers got through the screening process.

That's something I forgot to take into account.

I believe your thinking is correct. I also believe China reached their testing capacity a week or so ago. CDC struggling with relatively few confirmed cases so you can imagine the immense strain they must be under. I wonder how long it will be until they don't bother testing anymore because they need to divert manpower elsewhere.

My mother in law phoned from Puerto Vallarta Mexico told us she heard that a cruse ship is in Quarantine in PV . I could not find any news on this. Not sure if this is accurate info,, or her being confused - has anyone else heard anything on this ?

Was responding to your attack to my comment on the utter failure communism has been. You were very mad about that. It is not a straw-man to state the obvious. That communisim is an utter failure to humankind. It is based on lies, backed by lies and murder. This also is not a straw-man.

If you loved the people in China you would want them to be treated with human dignity. To be afforded basic human rights and freedoms which they do not have.

You would not be defending a failed system of governance that has grossly contributed to humankind's suffering.
