I started watching a series of videos on You Tube. Has anybody noticed that you can close an ad after about five seconds by selecting "Skip Ad"? From what I've seen you can do that with every add EXCEPT Bloomberg's campaign ads. Those you have to watch the complete ad.

Been that way forever, some ads can be clicked off, some cant..probably has to do with price of ad.

Neither has anything to do with ''human'' or ''American'' rights, only corporate rights. If we laud the system of capitalism over socialism,or for that matter any other economic system, then we must accept that corporate right to do what ever the hell they want.

Ummm...in Socialism the government is the big bad corporation, Terry. ALL forms of power invested in one entity. Consider the outcome of human nature mixed with all-powerful bureaucracy. You don't have to imagine too hard, we have historical examples.

Capitalism isn't perfect. I know that. I used to be pretty radical myself. But when mixed with a democratic republic, it allows the most freedom. We have an example for that too.

So you have no issue with companies like YouTube allowing or disallowing whatever content they want?

I'm watching the live PRO Second Amendment march in VA. I type in USA, USA, MAGA, KAG, KAG, KAG!
I did the several times within the allotted time frame. And I could see that several hundred others were doing the same thing. Suddenly, a screen message shows up saying that this channel has been banned! I went to refresh my screen, and for some reason I had to sign in again. I then get a message that I've been banned too!

Oh, I have serious issues with that. At present they enjoy certain legal protections that basically assume they are public service. That needs to be changed if they want to censor folk.

Hmm i got ruptly and global news after typing va gun protest.

Do you think you got auto-banned for spam? Although, it seems like a harsh punishment for spam..

Maybe the system thought you were a spam bot, or maybe a moderator of youtube decided to bban you. Wierd...

It's possible he paid more money for unskipple ads. If you're spending millions on YouTube ads, i would believe you'd know if your ads are skipable or not.

Well i think people have to decide if these companies should be more regulated because they are so huge. The interesting thing is that the people who are least for regulation are the ones who claim they are being censored the most on these platforms. (Conservatives, alt-right, pro-gun, ect..)

I think we need a mix of socialism and capitalism. Capatalism is great, but negative situations arise when massive corporations like Google get so big that they can influence and lobby politicians. Then we get the "too big to fail" mentality and give corporations too much power over the country's direction.

We gotta find a middle ground IMO, but that's not going to happen if TPTB keep pushing this left vs right hatred.

I don't disagree Gut. It's the conservative defense of capitalism as expressed in all the anti-socialist rhetoric that bothers me as it seems almost a blind faith. The socialism as boogeyman thing. Socialism might be a better system but changing from capitalism to socialism just isn't in the cards, capitalism has just been to successful. So that change ain't gonna happen.

So we live with what we got. And from my perspective part of that is distinguishing between government operated institutions rules and procedures, which are ostensibly ''by and for the people'' and privately owned corporate entities which run by the rules of profit for the owners and the trends of the marketplace.

So to my mind, defenders of the system got no place to call foul when that system that they defend jumps back and bites them in the ass.
