Thats like asking if you would support a guy that was raping your kids but was anti abortion, would you support him?

Would you?

Quoted for a perfect example of the left's mindset when it comes to Trump.

I asked him in another thread yesterday to name one law Trump has broken and he vacated the thread and never returned, dont expect an answer.

Especailly after the thread he tried to make about it, and got a spanking.

Well, I got my hand slapped a couple of times tonight (deservedly so) so I'm going to bed so I don't say anything else inappropriate. I don't expect a reply from him either, I haven't gotten one yet though I've asked for similar things several times. It's ok, live and let live.

Why ask libs for their opinions?

Shhhh...I'm fishing for more walkaways. There's still a few swimming around. Btw, has anyone noticed how haggard and defeated Schiff and Susan Rice appeared today?

It's happening to all the CNN folk too. They're looking and sounding...well...Trumped.

Well maybe we should evacuate our embassies and get all of our american citizens out before we talk about bringing out troops home then?
Or, maybe trump should be just a tad bit more truthful.
Maybe the op should be also. Our troops wont be out of the middle east till the last drop of oil is pumped out of the ground and there will not be peace for us as long as we have troops there.

It's probably because they were all fired up about Trump not asking for Congressional approval for the strike on national TV and then their lawyers pointing out that...

1./ He has every right under the Constitution to order force against a terrorist no matter where... (Think Bin Laden in PAKISTAN...)

2./ He drone struck the terrorist in Iraq, which they gave the office of the President approval to do when they all voted on the Iraq war...

Why oh why do people keep bringing up oil when we no longer need a drop of oil from the middle east?

China needs oil from the middle east.

We do not anymore... at all.

Thank you Trump for doing that, btw...

Marie Harf was on Fox News's The Five today; guest filling in for the clueless vacationing Juan Williams. Bad timing as she looked as if desperately wanting to drown herself in the nearest coffee mug contents.

I doubt it, I literally had a liberal tell me the other day:

"Trump could cure cancer, and end homelessness and I would still hate him and push for his impeachment, hes an awful person"

Basically that was verbatim, thats the level of complete delusions these people are at.

No - one said this... Be honest.

You've probably said this.

Be honest.

probably more along the lines of:

"I dont CARE if he hasnt done anything illegal or wrong, IMPEACH HIM ANYWAY!"

They think not liking someone is justfiable for that

Its funny tho, because during Obamas entire term they labeled us as racists and haters if we didnt like his policies and we werent tolerant.

Now look at the "tolerant" being the biggest bigots in the US, not only that were starting to see those "Tolerant" people committing more and more hate crimes against Jews, and even people they dont agree with politically ala Antifa etc.

So transparent.

I think what's happening here is a lot more than just the usual "Trump did it, Trump bad."

I think that higher ups in the Democratic party don't want the average citizen to think THIS through...

When Obama brokered the deal (NOT a Treaty!!!) with Iran, Soleimani (the terrorist) was probably the one on the other end of the phone.

He was the second in command and leader of the Iranian military, after all.

Then Obama and Biden dropped 150 billion dollars on pallets to him.

Which Soleimani had been using ever since to fund EVERY Iranian terrorist plot outside of the Iranian borders.

Since that was his actual job.

Obama funded a terrorist that has been attributed to killing over 600 Americans and thousands upon thousands of others.

So no, I think the Democrats are circling the wagons now to try to preserve Obama's rapidly shrinking "legacy."

Let's hope Trump declassifies the Obama/Iran conversations and gives them to the American public.

You know... in the interests of transparency and all.

Getting back to the OP ...

So, Liberals, if Trump would actually, and could actually, end our nation-building-mass destruction-loving-military-industrial-complex-terrorist-making-cilvilian-collateral-damaging effed-up foreign policy of the last 50-yrs…would you support him in that endeavor?

I'm not a Liberal ... I'm a liberal (and also a conservative, but not a Conservative), but I'll throw some gas into the fire here.

That's a big IF, of course. (I'd say that it was more likely for an asteroid to hit the roof of my apartment, and then have ten supermodels get out and have an orgy with me.)

I never have liked Donald Trump. I read an article about him back in the 1980s and I knew he was bad news back then. (He's actually gotten worse over the decades ... It's what he tweets out that disgusts me the most about him.) Does the system need shaking up? Yes. Was Trump the right choice to do it? No. (For the record, Bernie Sanders wasn't, either.)

Do I trust business people? No. (Whenever someone mentions they're a business person, I grab my wallet tight.) Why don't I trust them? Because they're always trying to pull something over on you. They don't even trust each other.

Which brings me to my answer. If for some reason, Mr. Trump was able to "end our nation-building-mass destruction-loving-military-industrial-complex-terrorist-making-cilvilian-collateral-damaging effed-up foreign policy of the last 50-yrs" my first question would be: How? Based on the Trump-Russia conspiracies (this IS a conspiracy form, right?), my guess would be surrendering the USA to Russia and living in luxury until he dies, which technically solves the problem. In that case, would I support him? No.

Okay, let's add another IF here ... Suppose that he had a way to dismantle everything and reverse foreign policy to fix everything and keep the USA as a working democracy. (We're talking about meteor/supermodel odds here, but let's go with it.) My next question would be the classic Cui Bono? ("Who benefits?") If Trump was willing to disassemble the MIC, what will he get out of it? That would make a lot of powerful people mad, and he would be their Public Enemy #1. Thus, he would have to get something out of the deal, and I would like to know what, because he (or anyone else, for that matter) would not leave himself open to people with that kind of money and power.

And I don't ever see him changing his personality, which is what I would need to see. (I can't believe that anyone thinks he's a Christian.)

The short answer? If this were "The Wizard Of Oz", I'd start looking behind curtains.

We're over there for nation-building and the M.I.C. does like it's spoils of war to be sure but it's about much more than oil. They want us there but Trump actually doesn't. He's more into building our ancient & crumbling infrastructure. He's not a republican, btw, he's a mix like most of us are. He also knows the Right has plenty of swamp creatures too but watch what happens to them in his 2nd term is my guess.

As Lumenari pointed out President Trump has factored the oil supply in to get us out of nation-building. We're the number one producer in case you haven't heard, Just like he came in knowing he was going to take on China because it's now or never. They've been eating our lunch in every arena that affects national security.

But back to strategically countering the stoopid foreign policy of nation-building. Remember how Trump was under a lot of pressure from the Warhawks about Syria? Remember how he dropped that MOAB on almost nobody but an airfield to shut up the hawks and then started extricating us?

Same with Soleiman & Iran. Yes, there is some risk we'll have to bomb the hell out of their oilfields if they continue to be stupid but no ground war is coming.

And I damn well bet that the Mullahs--and even Kim--are rethinking how the future may shake out. Folk know Trump is open to negotiation. Now they know what can happen if they refuse to negotiate.

That's as "Presidential" as it gets.

Addendum. After I posted the above, I noticed that someone had brought up the way (some) Democrats pushed for impeachment. Here's my 2 cents worth on that topic ...

There is physical evidence that our election results were tampered with in 2016. I don't care who did it; in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter who, just that it did happen. This shows that we need to strengthen our networks, etc., so that we can have real elections where votes do actually count. (Yes, I'm being sentimental and/or naive here.)

IMO, this should have been the #1 priority, NOT impeachment, a simple reason being that it is an issue that could easily swing to the other end of the spectrum. IF some foreign agency tampered our results in 2016 so that the Republicans ended up running things, it would be just as easy for them to tamper with the results in 2020 and have the Democrats on top. This is thus something that both sides of the political spectrum want to keep in place, and a bipartisan effort would have resulted.

The alternative to doing this is to admit that our "democracy" is a sham.

If he actually ended the wars and brought back our troops including the ones guarding Saudis oil fields I would buy a maga hat attend one of his rallies and cheer for him.

As it is I am already planning on voting for him because the left is anti 2nd amendment, but I don't like him and voting for him is just choosing the lesser evil.

*Squints* Is this a troll thread? I'm pretty sure this is a troll thread. 'Cause with Soleimani Trump has all but guaranteed another war in the Middle East.

A war with whom? 7th century Iranian Mullahs and their secret stash of nuclear weaponry/hidden launch sites, Navy/Submarines; the Revolutionary Guard (oops leader just killed) standing army of goats and camels?

There's a good chance Iran already has nuclear weapons and will retaliate. And when they do Israel will retaliate with a counter strike of all their weapons. Essentially it will be the of mankind. If this happens before the Internet goes down know this, "I told you so."

It's amazing how far you have to reach to stay in your lane.

None of this will happen. None of it.

Giant douche or turd sandwich?

It is still a choice and for me the sticking point is the 2nd amendment. If TSHTF then I will be armed. Pessimistic I know, but even the rich are buying land in New Zeland and building bunkers so maybe they know something(like a 30 trillion debt may signal the end of a nation). The reason they are choosing so far away to escape to is probably because they wouldn't survive in a nation that's armed. If they could disarm us they would stay with PMCs to enforce their will.

And who represented the 6 other countries? It wasn't a bi-lateral agreement, it was an agreement between MANY countries, including Russia and China.

Something beyond the grasp of Trump, and it kills him! Obama was a better negotiator!
